Allergic-like breakthrough reactions to gadolinium contrast agents after corticosteroid and antihistamine premedication.
The objective of our study was to determine the number and severity of allergic-like breakthrough reactions to i.v. gadolinium-containing contrast agents in children and adults after premedication with corticosteroids and antihistamines. ⋯ Allergic-like reactions to gadolinium-containing contrast media can occur despite premedication with corticosteroids and antihistamines.

MDCT and radiography of wrist fractures: radiographic sensitivity and fracture patterns.
The purpose of our study was to determine which wrist fractures are not prospectively diagnosed at radiography using CT as a gold standard and to identify specific fracture patterns. ⋯ Thirty percent of wrist fractures were not prospectively diagnosed on radiography, suggesting that CT should be considered after a negative radiographic finding if clinically warranted. The location of a dorsal scaphoid avulsion fracture emphasizes the need for specific radiographic views or cross-sectional imaging for diagnosis.

Small and diminutive polyps detected at screening CT colonography: a decision analysis for referral to colonoscopy.
The objective of this study was to assess the clinical and economic impact of colonoscopic referral for small and diminutive polyps detected at CT colonography (CTC) screening. ⋯ For diminutive polyps detected at CTC screening, the very low likelihood of advanced neoplasia and the high costs associated with polypectomy argue against colonoscopic referral, whereas removal of large CTC-detected polyps is highly effective. The yield of colonoscopic referral for small polyps is relatively low, suggesting that CTC surveillance may be a reasonable management option.

Comparative StudyComparison of three free-breathing T2-weighted MRI sequences in the evaluation of focal liver lesions.
The purpose of this study was to compare three free-breathing T2-weighted MRI sequences in the evaluation of focal liver lesions. ⋯ The navigator-triggered PACE technique is a valid method for T2-weighted MRI of the liver and may replace conventional respiration-triggered techniques.

Pediatric chest MDCT using tube current modulation: effect on radiation dose with breast shielding.
The purpose of our study was to assess the effect on radiation dose and image noise during pediatric chest 16-MDCT using automatic tube current modulation and bismuth breast shields. ⋯ The greatest dose reduction is achieved by placing the shield after obtaining the scout image to avoid Auto mA compensation due to density of shield. With this technique, image noise increased but remained close to the target noise index.
