ReviewAccuracy of MRI in diagnosing peripheral nerve disease: a systematic review of the literature.
MRI is increasingly being used to evaluate extracranial peripheral nerve disease in clinical practice. The objective of this study was to systematically review the accuracy of MRI in distinguishing normal from abnormal extracranial peripheral nerves. ⋯ There is significant heterogeneity between studies investigating the accuracy of MRI. Studies have shown that nerve T2-weighted or STIR hyperintensity, nerve enlargement, and nerve flattening are associated with peripheral nerve disease.

Comparative StudyMicrosimulation model of CT versus MRI surveillance of Bosniak IIF renal cystic lesions: should effects of radiation exposure affect selection of imaging strategy?
The objective of this study was to quantify the effects of radiation-induced cancer risks in patients with Bosniak category IIF lesions undergoing CT versus MRI surveillance. ⋯ Microsimulation modeling shows that radiation-induced cancer risks from CT surveillance for Bosniak IIF lesions minimally affect life expectancy. However, as progressively younger patients are considered, increasing radiation risks merit stronger consideration of MRI surveillance.

Clinical TrialAssessment of 1 mSv urinary tract stone CT with model-based iterative reconstruction.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate stone detection, assessment of secondary signs of stone disease, and diagnostic confidence utilizing submillisievert CT with model-based iterative reconstruction (MBIR) in a North American population with diverse body habitus. ⋯ Aggressively dose-reduced (~1 mSv) MBIR scans detected most urinary tract stones of 3 mm or larger but underperformed the low-dose reference standard (3-4 mSv) scans in small (<3 mm) stone detection and diagnostic confidence.

Controlled Clinical TrialSurvival, efficacy, and safety of small versus large doxorubicin drug-eluting beads TACE chemoembolization in patients with unresectable HCC.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the overall survival, efficacy, and safety of small (100-300 µm) versus large (300-500 and 500-700 µm) doxorubicin drug-eluting beads transarterial chemoembolization (DEB TACE) in patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). ⋯ TACE with 100-300 µm sized DEB is associated with significantly higher survival rate and lower complications than TACE with 300-500 and 500-700 µm sized DEB.

Volumetric analysis of colonic distention according to patient position at CT colonography: diagnostic value of the right lateral decubitus series.
The purpose of this study was to compare total colonic gas volume and segmental luminal distention according to patient position on CT colonography (CTC), as well as to determine which two views should constitute the routine protocol. ⋯ The right lateral decubitus position consistently yields the best colonic distention at CTC and significantly improves evaluation of the sigmoid colon. Prone distention was the worst, particularly as BMI increased. Routine supine and decubitus positioning should be considered for standard CTC protocols, particularly in obese individuals. Automated volumetric analysis provides for rapid objective assessment of colonic distention.
