Comparative StudyComparison of Battery-Powered and Manual Bone Biopsy Systems for Core Needle Biopsy of Sclerotic Bone Lesions.
The purpose of this study was to compare manual and battery-powered bone biopsy systems for diagnostic yield and procedural factors during core needle biopsy of sclerotic bone lesions. ⋯ In biopsy of sclerotic bone lesions, use of a battery-powered bone drill system improves diagnostic yield over use of a manual system.

Comparative StudyImaging Factors That Influence Surgical Margins After Preoperative 125I Radioactive Seed Localization of Breast Lesions: Comparison With Wire Localization.
The objective of this study was to compare the potential influence of imaging variables on surgical margins after preoperative radioactive seed localization (RSL) and wire localization (WL) techniques. ⋯ Close positive margin, reexcision, and mastectomy rates remained similar in the WL group and RSL group. The presence of calcifications and increasing lesion size increased the odds of a close positive margin in both the WL and RSL groups, whereas the use of one versus more than one seed or wire did not.

JOURNAL CLUB: Quantification of Fetal Dose Reduction if Abdominal CT Is Limited to the Top of the Iliac Crests in Pregnant Patients With Trauma.
The purposes of this study were to correlate fetal z-axis location within the maternal abdomen on CT with gestational age and estimate fetal dose reduction of a study limited to the abdomen only, with its lower aspect at the top of the iliac crests, compared with full abdominopelvic CT in pregnant trauma patients. ⋯ In pregnant patients in our series with a history of trauma, CT of the abdomen only was an effective technique to reduce fetal radiation exposure compared with full abdomen and pelvis CT.

Systematic Evaluation of Radiation Dose Reduction in CT Studies of Body Packers: Accuracy Down to Submillisievert Levels.
The objective of this study was to systematically evaluate the accuracy of abdominal CT performed at different radiation dose levels for the detection of body packs in human cadavers, in comparison with the accuracy of abdominal radiography. ⋯ CT performed at a dose of 0.6 mSv can be used for the detection of body packs. With a sensitivity and specificity of 100%, CT is superior to abdominal radiography in terms of reliability, associated radiation dose, and accuracy of detection.

Reassessment and Follow-Up Results of BI-RADS Category 3 Lesions Detected on Screening Breast Ultrasound.
The purpose of this study is to determine the frequency and the malignancy rate of BI-RADS category 3 lesions detected on screening breast ultrasound and to reassess whether they satisfied the requirements of the American College of Radiology Imaging Network (ACRIN) 6666 protocol. ⋯ Although the frequency of ultrasound BI-RADS category 3 lesions is considerably high (14.6%), the malignancy rate is very low (0.7%), especially in patients with a normal mammogram. Therefore, with BI-RADS category 3 assessment, careful evaluation is required to avoid unnecessary short-interval follow-up or biopsy.
