Psychometric Properties of the Photograph Series of Daily Activities-Short Electronic Version (PHODA-SeV) in Patients With Chronic Low Back Pain.
Background The Photograph Series of Daily Activities-short electronic version (PHODA-SeV) assesses perceived harmfulness of daily activities in patients with low back pain (LBP). Although there is some evidence that the PHODA-SeV is a reliable and valid tool, its psychometric properties have not been fully investigated. Objectives To investigate the test-retest reliability, measurement error, interpretability, construct validity, and internal and external responsiveness of the PHODA-SeV in patients with chronic LBP. ⋯ This tool, however, failed to identify those patients who did or did not improve, according to other pain-related fear measures. Case ReportsSalter-Harris Fracture of the Proximal Humerus in an Adolescent Gymnast.
A 13-year-old male gymnast presented via direct access to physical therapy with a chief complaint of insidious-onset right anterolateral shoulder pain that occurred only when performing on the rings and high bar. Following physical examination, the patient was advised to avoid any gymnastic activities that might cause pain while completing stretching and neuromuscular training over the following 2 weeks. ⋯ The patient was diagnosed with a type 1 Salter-Harris fracture. Case ReportsDisplaced Fracture Dislocation of the Proximal Humerus.
The patient was a 41-year-old man who injured his right shoulder falling onto his outstretched hand while skiing. Radiographs taken in the emergency department demonstrated a 3-part fracture dislocation of the proximal humerus for which he underwent same-day surgery. Physical therapy was initiated on postoperative day 27, and postoperative radiographs and physical examination results assisted in devising an appropriate plan of care and treatment.
