Meta AnalysisThe Effects of Needling Therapies on Muscle Force Production: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.
Needling has been shown to decrease pain in the short term; however, its effects on muscle force production are unclear. ⋯ Therapy, level 1a. J Orthop Sports Phys Ther 2019;49(3):154-170. Epub 30 Nov 2018. doi:10.2519/jospt.2019.8270.

Observational StudyKnee Function, Strength, and Resumption of Preinjury Sports Participation in Young Athletes Following Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction.
Following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR), young athletes demonstrate deficits in knee function and strength whose association with successful return to preinjury sports participation is not well understood. ⋯ Prognosis, level 2b. J Orthop Sports Phys Ther 2019;49(3):145-153. doi:10.2519/jospt.2019.8624.

Case ReportsSalter-Harris Type III Fracture in a Football Player.
A 15-year-old high school football player sustained direct impact to his anteromedial left knee by a teammate's helmet during practice. The physician referred the athlete immediately to an after-hours clinic for imaging to rule out a fracture. ⋯ The treating physician also ordered magnetic resonance imaging, the results of which allowed for a more specific diagnosis of the fracture as a Salter-Harris type III fracture of the left femur. J Orthop Sports Phys Ther 2019;49(3):209. doi:10.2519/jospt.2019.7984.

A Manual Therapy and Home Stretching Program in Patients With Primary Frozen Shoulder Contracture Syndrome: A Case Series.
Manual therapy has been demonstrated to reduce pain and improve function in patients with frozen shoulder contracture syndrome (FSCS), but no evidence exists to support one form of manual therapy over another. This case series describes both short- and long-term outcomes after a manual therapy program and home stretching exercises based on specific impairments in shoulder mobility and level of tissue irritability in patients with FSCS. ⋯ Therapy, level 5. J Orthop Sports Phys Ther 2019;49(3):192-201. Epub 18 Jan 2019. doi:10.2519/jospt.2019.8194.
