Thrust joint manipulation clinical education opportunities for professional degree physical therapy students.
Descriptive survey. ⋯ Results suggest that the availability and scope of thrust joint manipulation clinical educational opportunities are limited, vary considerably, and are not considered when selecting clinical education sites for students. Potential obstacles to offering thrust joint manipulation training were identified, which suggested the need for resources, including clinical education curricula and philosophical guidelines for clinical instructors.

Quadriceps strength and the time course of functional recovery after total knee arthroplasty.
Prospective study with repeated measures. ⋯ Functional measures underwent an expected decline early after TKA, but recovery was more rapid than anticipated and long-term outcomes were better than previously reported in the literature. The high correlation between quadriceps strength and functional performance suggests that improved postoperative quadriceps strengthening could be important to enhance the potential benefits of TKA.

Clinical TrialReliability and responsiveness of the lower extremity functional scale and the anterior knee pain scale in patients with anterior knee pain.
Prospective methodological study of repeated measures using a sample of consecutive patients. ⋯ The LEFS and the AKPS both demonstrated high test-retest reliability and appear to be moderately responsive to clinical change in patients with anterior knee pain. Reliability and responsiveness were slightly higher in the LEFS than the AKPS. Further research is needed to determine if these measures could be modified, or new measures created, to produce an even more sensitive tool for this population.

The MedRisk Instrument for Measuring Patient Satisfaction With Physical Therapy Care: a psychometric analysis.
Psychometric evaluation of a cross-sectional survey. ⋯ Our findings provide evidence of discriminant and concurrent validity of the 2-factor solution for the MRPS questionnaire for the sample that was tested. This 2-factor solution yields measures that are relatively free of error and may discriminate between internal and external factors influencing patient satisfaction. Patients who complete their course of physical therapy report that the professional interaction between the therapist and patient, especially the meaningful exchange of relevant information, is critical for patient satisfaction with care. The generalizability of our data to patients who do not complete their physical therapy care or who are receiving care in other health care environments is unknown.

Multicenter StudyComputer use associated with poor long-term prognosis of conservatively managed lateral epicondylalgia.
Multicenter prospective design with a cohort of patients with lateral epicondylalgia commencing physical therapy. ⋯ Although many of the participants identified sports activities as the cause of their injury, these findings emphasize the importance that a patient's work tasks can have on recovery of lateral epicondylalgia. This would suggest that management should perhaps focus on work stations, postures, and behaviors.
