Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyThe impact of product information and trials on demand for smokeless tobacco and cigarettes: evidence from experimental auctions.
Epidemiological and toxicological evidence suggests lower risk of smokeless tobacco (ST) products compared to cigarettes. Less is known, however, about consumer perceptions and use of novel forms of ST, including snus and dissolvable tobacco. ⋯ These findings suggest that credible and effective communications about tobacco harm reduction should reinforce the negative effects of smoking.

Pregnancy and post-delivery maternal weight changes and overweight in preschool children.
High maternal weight before and during pregnancy contributes to child obesity. To assess the additional role of weight change after delivery, we examined associations between pre- and post-pregnancy weight changes and preschooler overweight. ⋯ Increased maternal weight gain both during and after pregnancy predicted overweight in preschool children. Our results suggest that healthy post-pregnancy weight may join normal pre-pregnancy BMI and adequate GWG as a potentially modifiable risk factor for child overweight.

Daily movement patterns and biological markers among adults in the United States.
To examine the combined effects of sedentary (SED), light (LPA) and moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) on biological markers among a nationally representative sample of U.S. adults. ⋯ Programs are needed to increase American's engagement in MVPA, and also ensure that LPA exceeds SED behavior.

Revisiting lifestyle risk index assessment in a large Australian sample: should sedentary behavior and sleep be included as additional risk factors?
Most studies on multiple health behaviors include physical inactivity, alcohol, diet, and smoking (PADS), with few including emerging lifestyle risks such as sleep or sitting. We examined whether adding sitting and sleep to a conventional lifestyle risk index improves the prediction of cross-sectional health outcomes (self-rated health, quality of life, psychological distress, and physical function). We also explored the demographic characteristics of adults with these multiple risk behaviors. ⋯ Future research on multiple health behaviors might benefit from including sleep as an additional behavior. In Australia, unhealthy lifestyles tend to cluster in adults with certain demographic characteristics.
