Cannabis use and the prevalence of current asthma among adolescents and adults in the United States.
Cannabis use has increased among adolescents and adults in the United States (US) in recent years. Few data are available on the prevalence of asthma by frequency of cannabis use. This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of asthma by frequency of past 30-day cannabis use among US individuals. ⋯ Findings suggest a dose-response relationship between frequency of current cannabis use and the prevalence of current asthma in the US individuals.

Cardiovascular-specific mortality and risk factors in colorectal Cancer patients: A cohort study based on registry data of over 500,000 individuals in the US.
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common cancers worldwide, and recent studies have found that CRC patients are at increased risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD). This study aimed to investigate competing causes of death and prognostic factors among a large cohort of CRC patients and to describe cardiovascular-specific mortality in relation to the US standard population. ⋯ This study highlights the need to develop multidisciplinary prevention and management strategies for CRC and CVD to improve CRC patients' survival and quality of life.

Access to routine health care and awareness of hypertension status among adults: Results from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2011-2018.
Hypertension is a growing pandemic affecting over 1 billion people worldwide; about 46% of people with hypertension are unaware. ⋯ Access to a routine place of care in a non-emergency department setting is essential to reduce the rate of undiagnosed hypertension among American adults. Policymakers should implement policies to address the shortage of primary care providers and increase access to a routine place of care.

Increasing awareness for dementia risk reduction through a public awareness campaign in Denmark: A pre-post study.
It is estimated that about 40% of all dementia cases are potentially attributable to modifiable risk factors, but awareness of this is relatively lacking. ⋯ This mass-media campaign did not increase overall awareness that dementia risk is partly modifiable. However, exposure to the campaign was associated with more awareness and willingness to take action to improve brain health. Future campaigns should tailor messages to specific subgroups to broaden the reach (e.g., males), co-create materials with the target group, and give special attention to the contribution of metabolic/cardiovascular risk factors to dementia risk.

The mediating roles of mental health problems and racial differences in the linkage between social media use and E-cigarette use among American youth.
Social media use is shown to be linked to youth's e-cigarette use. However, less is known about the underlying mechanisms. This study examined the mediating roles of internalizing and externalizing problems in the association between youth's social media use and e-cigarette use, and the racial differences in the mediation association. ⋯ Mental health problems following social media use served as a risk factor for e-cigarette use among youth. Interventions aiming to improve youth's mental health could in turn temper e-cigarette use among youth social media users, and implementing tailored interventions in response to racial differences is warranted.
