An atlas of causal association between micronutrients and osteoarthritis.
This study examines the causal relationships between serum micronutrients and site-specific osteoarthritis (OA) using Mendelian Randomization (MR). ⋯ These findings underscore the critical role of micronutrients in osteoarthritis, providing valuable insights for preventive care and potential enhancement of treatment outcomes.

ReviewEffectiveness of interventions to prevent or reverse pre-frailty and frailty in middle-aged community dwelling adults: A systematic review.
Frailty, marked by diminished physiological capacity and higher health risks, is less understood in middle-aged individuals (40-65 years) than older adults. This review synthesises intervention studies for pre-frailty and frailty in this demographic, assessing effectiveness, feasibility, and implementation factors including participant experience and cost-effectiveness. ⋯ This review reveals an evidence gap in middle-aged frailty interventions. Multicomponent interventions and resistance training showed promise, but their comparative effectiveness remains uncertain. Educational and low-intensity interventions need further research to establish their effectiveness. The findings diverge from those in older adults, emphasising the need for age-specific approaches. Future studies should employ higher-quality methods and explore emerging technologies to enhance intervention effectiveness for pre-frailty and frailty in middle-aged adults.

Randomized Controlled TrialLower incidence of vaginal cancer after cervical human papillomavirus screening - long-term follow-up of Finnish randomized screening trial.
Around 70% of vaginal cancers and 40-50% of vulvar cancers are attributable to human papillomavirus (HPV). Globally the burden of these diseases is estimated to grow due to the increasing HPV prevalence and rapidly aging global population. We aimed to examine if HPV screening for cervical cancer has an additional beneficial effect in preventing vaginal and vulvar cancers. To assess this, we used long-term follow-up data from the Finnish randomized HPV screening trial. ⋯ We found lower incidence of vaginal cancers with HPV screening compared to cytology screening. To validate our results, we recommend analyzing data on vaginal and vulvar cancers also from other HPV screening studies.

Behavioral counseling for cardiovascular disease prevention in 36 low-income and middle-income countries.
Given the substantial prevalence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs), evaluation of behavioral counseling for prevention of CVD is important. ⋯ The prevalence of behavioral counseling for CVD is low in LMICs, especially among potentially at-risk populations and in low-income countries. These findings highlight the current urgent need to improve CVD prevention and management systems to enhance behavioral counseling and intervention.

Contemporary burden and trends of opioid-overdose mortality in New York State.
Limited research exists on contemporary opioid overdose mortality burden and trends in New York State, with most studies focusing on New York City. This study aimed to assess opioid overdose burden and death trends in New York State by age, sex, race/ethnicity, geographic area, opioid type, and overdose intent from 1999 to 2020. ⋯ Opioid overdose mortality in New York State has worsened significantly in the last two decades. Further research is essential to identify driving factors for targeted public health interventions.
