Comparative Study
Comparison of anti-acetylcholine receptor profiles between Chinese cases of adult- and juvenile-onset myasthenia gravis using cell-based assays.
Juvenile-onset myasthenia gravis (JOMG) is a unique clinical subtype in China, featured by a higher prevalence of ocular myasthenia gravis (OMG), higher seronegativity of acetylcholine receptor (AChR) antibodies, and better prognosis than that in adult-onset myasthenia gravis (AOMG). We previously identified low-affinity AChR antibodies in Chinese JOMG patients using cell-based assays (CBAs), indicating a predominantly AChR antibody-positive profile. Here, we further screened AChR antibodies in both Chinese AOMG and JOMG patients by CBAs. ⋯ The positive rates of AChR antibodies did not differ between Chinese AOMG and JOMG patients, as revealed by CBAs. Furthermore, the screened AChR antibodies were predominantly IgG1 in both AOMG and JOMG patients.

The mechanisms for neurological complications of COVID-19, the disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), are not yet well understood. We present a critically ill man with a COVID-19-associated hemorrhagic encephalopathy. ⋯ The patient gradually recovered with supportive care and neurological rehabilitation. Awareness of this clinical entity may facilitate the identification of patients with a potentially remediable cause of encephalopathy in COVID-19.

The COVID-19 is a novel condition affecting all the world, so every manifestation of disease should be reported. Neurologic manifestations of the disease are increasingly identified and this will help clinician to improve their diagnostic and therapeutic skills in dealing with COVID-19 patients. ⋯ Considering this report and other reports that are mentioned in our short review, there is probably causal relationship between COVID-19 and development of Guillain-Barré syndrome.

Meta Analysis
A meta-analysis on associations of IL-6 and IL-10 polymorphisms with susceptibility to ischemic stroke.
Some previous studies already explored associations of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and interleukin-10 (IL-10) polymorphisms with ischemic stroke (IS). However, the results were conflicting. In this meta-analysis, we aimed to better analyze the relationship between IL-6/IL-10 polymorphisms and IS in a larger pooled population. ⋯ Our findings indicated that IL-6 rs1800795 polymorphism was significantly associated with individual susceptibility to IS in Asians, but not in Caucasians. In addition, IL-10 rs1800896 polymorphism was also significantly associated with individual susceptibility to IS, especially for CI.

Paclitaxel is a common chemotherapy drug associated with the development of chronic paclitaxel-induced peripheral neuropathy (PIPN). PIPN is associated with neuroinflammatory mechanisms in pre-clinical studies. ⋯ Expression profile analysis found 15 experiments having similar whole-transcriptome profiles of DGE related to neuroinflammation and PIPN. These findings suggest that perturbations in pathways associated with neuroinflammation are found in cancer survivors with PIPN.
