Comparative Study Clinical Trial Controlled Clinical Trial[Place of normovolemic hemodilution in oncologic cervicofacial and ENT surgery].
Evaluate the use of normovolaemic haemodilution in cervico-facial oncologic surgery. ⋯ Normovalaemic haemodilution does not seem to be indicated in cervico-facial and ENT oncologic surgery.

We report the case of a 71-year-old woman where nasogastric tube provoked a severe laryngeal injury, revealed by acute respiratory distress. Direct laryngoscopic findings included arytenoid edema, postcricoid ulceration and bilateral vocal cord paralysis in adduction. ⋯ Several months later, no improvement was noted because of a cricoid necrosis. Physiopathology, prophylaxis and management are discussed.

Case Reports[A new case of perforation of the esophagus during intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography].
We describe a novel case of peroperative oesophageal perforation following insertion of a transoesophageal echocardiography probe. Histories of left pneumonectomy and oesophageal fragility probably explained this complication. ⋯ Early postoperative period was not marked by infectious complication but the patient could not weaned from ventilatory support. She died 6 months later.

[Quality assurance for the assessment of postoperative pain: proposal of procedures and questionnaires].
This study presents a tool including survey questionnaires and a specific data-processing software for the data processing, allowing health care providers to assess the quality of postoperative pain management in surgical wards. ⋯ This survey's device should allow health care providers to assess the quality of postoperative pain management in surgical wards. Its validation is currently developed to improve its use, and keep the most performing indicators, showing an adequate postoperative pain management.
