Yinchenhao decoction suppresses rat liver fibrosis involved in an apoptosis regulation mechanism based on network pharmacology and transcriptomic analysis.
Yinchenhao decoction (YCHD) is a classical Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula that has been widely used in the treatment of liver fibrosis caused by chronic hepatitis B and jaundice for more than 1800 years. The purpose of this study was to investigate the apoptosis regulation mechanisms of YCHD and its active components suppresses liver fibrosis. The active components and putative targets of YCHD were predicted by network pharmacology approach. ⋯ On the contrary, rhein, kaempferol, aloe-emodin and quercetin inhibited the proliferation of LX2 cells and up-regulated the protein levels of Bax and cleaved caspase-8. In conclusion, 45 active components and 296 potential targets of YCHD against liver fibrosis were identified by the analysis of network pharmacology and transcriptomics combination. The mechanisms of YCHD against liver fibrosis were involved in the regulation of multiple targets, especially affecting the apoptosis-related signaling pathways.

Decitabine enhances tumor recognition by T cells through upregulating the MAGE-A3 expression in esophageal carcinoma.
Cancer testis (CT) antigens are expressed in various types of tumors and represent the potential targets for T cell-based immunotherapy. Analysis of CT gene expression and DNA methylation have indicated that certain CT genes are epigenetically regulated and studies have confirmed that certain CT antigens are regulated by DNA methylation. In this study, we explored the epigenetic regulation of MAGE-A3 and improved the clinical outcome of MAGE-A3-specific T cell therapy in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). ⋯ In the tumor cell-xenograft mouse model and ELISPOT assays, DAC increased the expression of MAGE-A3 and T cell mediated tumor clearance in ESCC as well. Notably, the proportions of MAGE-A3-responsive T cells were elevated in DAC-treated patients with MDS, indicating DAC dismissed the epigenetic inhibition of MAGE-A3. DAC would probably improve the clinical outcome of MAGE-A3-specific T cell therapy by augmenting the expression of target gene.

Finite element analysis of different internal fixation methods for the treatment of Pauwels type III femoral neck fracture.
To compare the bifomechanical advantages and disadvantages of different internal fixation methods for the treatment of Pauwels type III femoral neck fractures. ⋯ The "F" shaped cannulated screw technique is capable of eliminating the torsional stress and shear stress while maintaining the axial compressive stress at the fracture end. Besides, the medial support plate can effectively resist the shearing force of the Pauwels III femoral neck fracture and create an excellent mechanical environment for fracture healing. Thus, for the Pauwels III femoral neck fracture, the use of "F" shaped cannulated screws combined with medial plate internal fixation are recommended.

Tanshinone IIA attenuates sepsis-induced immunosuppression and improves survival rate in a mice peritonitis model.
The importance of sepsis-induced immunosuppression and its contribution to mortality has recently emerged. In this study we examined the effects of Tanshinone II-A (TSN), a widely used traditional Chinese medicine, on immunosuppression in experimental peritonitis induced septic mice. ⋯ Overall, our data suggest that TSN exerts immune modulatory effect and might be a useful strategy to ameliorate immunosuppression in polymicrobial sepsis.

Wound healing properties, antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of Salvia kronenburgii Rech. f. and Salvia euphratica Montbret, Aucher & Rech. f. var. euphratica on excision and incision wound models in diabetic rats.
Diabetic patients suffer from persistent and non-healing wounds. Salvia species are traditionally used for the treatment of wounds and colds. The aims of the present study were to evaluate the in vivo wound healing potential, in vitro antimicrobial and antioxidant activities, and total phenolic and flavonoid contents of the aerial parts of two endemic taxa, Salvia kronenburgii Rech. f. (SK) and Salvia euphratica Montbret, Aucher & Rech. f. var. euphratica (SE). ⋯ Both tested plants had greater antibacterial activity against A. baumannii (62.5 μg/mL MIC value) and SE had greater antimycobacterial activity against M. tuberculosis (0.24 μg/mL MIC value) when compared to reference drugs Ampicillin, Isoniazid, and Ethambutol (125, 0.97, and 1.95 μg/mL MIC values, respectively). Antioxidant capacities, total phenolic and flavonoid contents of SE and SK were 87.08%, 76.21 μg GAE/mg, 43.43 μg QE/mg and 72.17%, 41.81 μg GAE/mg, 33.62 μg QE/mg, respectively. SK and SE had strong wound healing effects while SK found to be more effective than SE at both 7 and 14 days.
