T2 relaxometry based on multiexponential fitting to a single slice multiecho sequence has been the most common MRI technique for myelin water fraction mapping, where the short T2 is associated with myelin water. However, very long acquisition times and physically unrealistic models for T2 distribution are limitations of this approach. We present a novel framework for myelin imaging which substantially increases the imaging speed and myelin water fraction estimation accuracy. ⋯ The proposed framework can be used for reliable whole brain myelin imaging with a resolution of 2×2×4 mm3 in ≈17 min. To investigate gradient-echo phase errors caused by intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) of low signal magnitude, and propose methods to reduce artifacts from phase errors in quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) of ICH. ⋯ The proposed methods of mask-inversion as well as ICH isolation and superposition can substantially reduce artifacts in QSM of ICH. The echo time (TE) averaged spectrum is the one-dimensional (1D) cross-section of the J-resolved spectrum at J = 0. In multiecho TE-averaged spectroscopy, glutamate (Glu) is differentiated from glutamine (Gln) at 3 Tesla (T). This method, however, almost entirely suppresses Gln resonance lines around 2.35 ppm, leaving Gln undetermined. This study presents a novel method for quantifying both Glu and Gln using multi-echo spectral data. ⋯ Gln resonances can be clearly separated from Glu and N-acetyl-aspartate around 2.35 ppm using J-modulated spectroscopy. This method can be used to quantitatively measure Glu and Gln simultaneously at 3T. Magn Reson Med 76:725-732, 2016. Published 2015. To evaluate the use of variable flip angle refocusing pulse trains in single-shot three-dimensional gradient and spin-echo (3D-GRASE) to reduce blurring and increase the spatial coverage for high spatial resolution T2 -weighted functional MRI at 7 Tesla. ⋯ Variable flip angle refocusing schemes increase usability of 3D-GRASE for high-resolution functional MRI by reducing blurring and allowing increased spatial coverage.
