The aim of this study was to evaluate the outcomes of 68Ga prostate-specific membrane antigen (68Ga-PSMA) positron-emission tomography (PET)/CT-based metastasis-directed treatment (MDT) for oligometastatic prostate cancer (PC). ⋯ 68Ga-PSMA-PET/CT-based MDT is an efficient and safe treatment for oligometastatic PC patients. Proper patient selection might improve treatment outcomes.

The major goals of preoperative treatment for locally advanced rectal cancers (LARCs) are improvement of local tumor control, tumor downsizing, and downstaging. Modifications with respect to standardized chemoradiation protocol, e. g., integrating oxaliplatin, are realized with the aim of improving primary tumor response and patient outcome. ⋯ LNneg after preoperative treatment for LARC significantly influences patient survival. A radical surgical approach for recurrent LARC (locoregional, distant) should be contemplated when possible as we were able to clearly demonstrate its importance and efficacy.

Intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) is frequently used, but there are no data about current frequency regarding specific tumor sites and equipment used for quality assurance (QA). ⋯ IMRT may be on the way to replace other treatment techniques. However, many scientific questions are still open. In particular, it is unclear when the IMRT technique should not be used.

The technical progress in radiotherapy in recent years has been tremendous. This also implies a change of human and time resources. However, there is a lack of data on this topic. Therefore, the DEGRO initiated several studies in the QUIRO project on this subject. The present publication focuses on results for tomotherapy systems and compares them with other IMRT techniques. ⋯ This study gives an overview of the time and personnel requirements in radiation therapy using a tomotherapy system. The most representative analysis could be done for the room occupancy times during treatment in both centers. Due to the partly small amount of data and differing planning workflows between the two centers, it is problematic to draw a firm conclusion with regard to planning times. Overall, the time required for the tomotherapy treatment and planning is slightly higher compared to other IMRT techniques.

Evaluation of time, attendance of medical staff and resources for radiotherapy in pediatric and adolescent patients. The DEGRO-QUIRO trial.
The German Society of Radiation Oncology (DEGRO) initiated a multicenter trial to develop and evaluate adequate modules to assert core procedures in radiotherapy. The aim of this prospective evaluation was to methodical assess the required resources for radiotherapy in pediatric and adolescent patients. ⋯ For the first time, the personnel time requirements of a radiotherapy department for the maintenance, protection, and optimization of operational readiness for radiotherapy in pediatric and adolescent patients with and without general anesthesia were determined methodically.
