There is scarce information on animal bites in Spain. The objective of this study was to know the incidence, characteristics of the bitten persons, characteristics of biting animals, location of wounds and therapeutic behavior in our environment. ⋯ In the Barcelona province area animal bites are relatively common; in general populations preventive measures and health education are required, particularly among domestic animal owners, as well as health care personnel on the proper behavior when faced with animal bites.

Comparative Study[Validity of 6 indirect methods in the evaluation of compliance to drug treatment of non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus].
To validate six indirect methods for evaluation of therapy compliance with oral hypoglycemic agents: self-reported compliance, attendance to scheduled visits, Morisky-Green test, degree of disease control, medical judgement and level of knowledge on the disease. ⋯ In this study, SV and DC with basal blood glucose were the highest validity indicators and could be used combined in clinical practice to evaluate compliance with oral hypoglycemic agents.
