The Prognostic Impact of Coronary Artery Disease and Aortic Aneurysm: Insights From CT Protocol for Simultaneous Evaluation of Coronary Artery and Aorta.
There is a strong correlation between risk factors for coronary artery disease (CAD) and aortic aneurysm (AA). We aimed to investigate the prevalence and prognostic impact of CAD and AA in patients who underwent coronary aorta computed tomography (CACT) protocol, which allowed simultaneous evaluation of coronary artery and aorta. ⋯ In this cohort of patients undergoing simultaneous evaluation of coronary artery and aorta using CACT protocol, patients with AA had an increased risk of comorbid CAD compared to those without AA. CAD was independently associated with adverse clinical outcomes at 3 years.

Promoter-Specific Variants in NeuroD1 and H3K4me3 Coincident Regions and Clinical Outcomes of Small Cell Lung Cancer.
Neurogenic differentiation 1 (NeuroD1) is a representative small cell lung cancer (SCLC) transcription regulator involved in the carcinogenesis and behavior of SCLC. Histone modifications play an important role in transcription, and H3 lysine 4 trimethylation (H3K4me3) is primarily associated with promoter regions. ⋯ To summarize, among SNPs selected using ChIP-seq in promoter regions with high peaks in both NeuroD1 and H3K4me3, RNF145 rs2043268A>G and CINP rs762105A>G were associated with clinical outcomes in patients with SCLC and also affected the promoter activity of each gene.

Case ReportsCombined Malonic and Methylmalonic Aciduria Diagnosed by Recurrent and Severe Infections Mimicking a Primary Immunodeficiency Disease: A Case Report.
Combined malonic and methylmalonic aciduria is a rare genetic disorder caused by ACSF3 biallelic variants that results in impaired protein and fat metabolism and the accumulation of malonic and methylmalonic acids. A 52-day-old infant with a fever and a history of possible meningitis during the neonatal period was hospitalized. Multiple lesions of necrotizing lymphadenitis with abscesses in the left inguinal area were treated by incision and drainage along with appropriate antibiotic therapy, which revealed a methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infection. ⋯ He had occasional colds, but severe bacterial infections were absent. The prognosis suggests a benign disease course. Here, we present the first reported case of ACSF3 compound heterozygote variants in Korea.

Plagiarism is among the prevalent misconducts reported in scientific writing and common causes of article retraction in scholarly journals. Plagiarism of idea is not acceptable by any means. However, plagiarism of text is a matter of debate from culture to culture. ⋯ Text recycling in certain instances might be acceptable in scientific writing provided that the authors could correctly construe the text piece they borrowed. With introduction of artificial intelligence-based units, which help authors to write their manuscripts, the incidence of text plagiarism might increase. However, after a while, when a universal artificial unit takes over, no one will need to worry about text plagiarism as the incentive to commit plagiarism will be abolished, I believe.

Randomized Controlled TrialSex-Based Outcomes of P2Y12 Inhibitor Monotherapy After Three Months of Dual Antiplatelet Therapy in Patients Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention.
In patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in the SMART-CHOICE trial, P2Y12 inhibitor monotherapy after three months of dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) achieved clinical outcomes comparable to those of 12 months of DAPT. Nonetheless, the effects of sex on these outcomes remain unknown. ⋯ In both sexes undergoing PCI, P2Y12 inhibitor monotherapy after three months of DAPT achieved similar risks of the primary endpoints and the bleeding events compared with prolonged DAPT. Therefore, the benefits of early aspirin withdrawal with ongoing P2Y12 inhibitors may be comparable in women and men.
