Gadoxetic acid and diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) is increasingly used for the diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). It is relevant to refine the diagnostic parameters for HCC, using state-of-the-art imaging techniques. ⋯ With the HCC criteria based on combined gadoxetic acid-enhanced MRI and DWI, it is possible to reliably diagnose small HCC including hypovascular HCCs.

CT radiation dose reduction results in increased noise or graininess of images which affects the diagnostic information. One of the approaches to lower radiation exposure to patients is to reduce image noise with the use of image processing software in low radiation dose images. ⋯ Applications of NLAF can help reduce tube current down to 40 mAs for chest CT while maintaining lesion conspicuity and image quality.

Neuroendocrine tumors of the thymus are extremely rare anterior mediastinal tumors. The few studies reporting these tumors have focused on the clinical manifestations and do not provide a summary of characteristic computed tomography (CT) findings. ⋯ Neuroendocrine tumors of the thymus are rare tumors of the anterior mediastinum with a number of distinct CT characteristics. Most importantly, the density of the tumors was heterogeneous with necrosis or cystic degeneration and moderately or strongly enhancement after bolus injection of contrast medium, which may allow for more efficient tumor identification. Thus, CT can improve of the diagnosis of neuroendocrine tumors and provide critical information for surgical planning.

Etiologic and pathophysiologic role of functional bone marrow processes is not fully understood especially in the case of osteoporosis. ⋯ Changes in microcirculation but not diffusion in the bone marrow of osteoporotic rats are detected by DCE-MRI and DW-MRI due to vessel rarefication and maturation.
