Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyProspective randomized trial evaluating ketamine for advanced endoscopic procedures in difficult to sedate patients.
Adequate patient sedation is mandatory for advanced endoscopic procedures such as ERCP and EUS. ⋯ Ketamine is a useful adjunct to conscious sedation in patients who are difficult to sedate. Its use Results in better quality and depth of sedation with shorter recovery times than patients sedated using benzodiazepines and meperidine alone. Further prospective studies evaluating the effectiveness and safety of ketamine for endoscopic sedation are needed.

Meta AnalysisMeta-analysis: randomized controlled trials of clindamycin/aminoglycoside vs. beta-lactam monotherapy for the treatment of intra-abdominal infections.
To compare the effectiveness and safety of clindamycin/aminoglycoside with broad-spectrum beta-lactam monotherapy in patients with intra-abdominal infections by performing a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs). ⋯ The results of our meta-analysis suggest that beta-lactams are more effective in the treatment of intra-abdominal infections compared with clindamycin/aminoglycoside.

Meta AnalysisMeta-analysis: Saccharomyces boulardii for treating acute diarrhoea in children.
Saccharomyces boulardii is a non-pathogenic probiotic yeast considered useful against enteropathogens. ⋯ There exists a moderate clinical benefit of S. boulardii therapy in otherwise healthy infants and children with acute gastroenteritis, mainly a shorter duration of diarrhoea. However, these results should be interpreted with caution due to methodological limitations of the included studies.
