Case ReportsEvaluation of diagnostic and treatment approaches towards acute dyspnea in a palliative care setting among medical students at the University of Vienna.
Dyspnea is common in advanced cancer patients with opioids as first line treatment. ⋯ Although students did not have practical skills in treating advanced cancer patients with acute dyspnea, 32.6% would suggest an opioid as treatment option.

Delirium is still one of the most common and distressing symptoms in palliative care patients. Causes and pathophysiology of this neuropsychiatric dysfunction are multifactorial. ⋯ This case report presents a reversible delirium in an advanced cancer patient and offers a list of possible delirogen medications. This list might be useful to prevent delirium, particularly in older people.

Case Reports[Children as relatives of seriously ill and dying patients].
For children, the diagnosis of a serious disease of near relatives is a dramatic experience, particularly when their parents are involved. Such a situation demands great efforts to cope with. Therefore these children have an increased risk of developing mental health problems. ⋯ All interventions aim at one goal, which is maintaining the stability of the family. In the following, results of studies will be discussed with respect to the case report. According to the European research project "COSIP" (Children of Somatically Ill Parents) a recommendation for medical doctors of all specialities, caring for adults with severe diseases, should be lined out.

Case Reports[Palliative patients and their families - an inseparable complex system].
On the basis of a case report it can be demonstrated, how important the acquirement about the social net of the patient for a palliative team is. The involvement of the family into dealing with death and ending of life is as important as the co-caring of the family itself. Only by recognizing the structures inside of a family, an optimal care can take place.
