"At fingers' ends": risk factors and perinatal outcome of pregnancies complicated by digital malformations.
To identify the incidence, risk factors, and perinatal outcome of newborns with congenital finger or toe (digital) anomalies. ⋯ The incidence of digital anomalies can vary according to the population characteristics. It may be associated with other skeletal and non-skeletal malformations as well as with certain adverse obstetrical and perinatal outcomes. If a fetal digit anomaly is suspected, a detailed assessment of fetal anatomy is mandatory to exclude other malformations.

Review Case ReportsBreast abscess following nipple piercing: a case report and review of the literature.
Nipple piercing gains popularity and social acceptance within the last years, especially among young people. The medical literature reports an increase of complications in the post-piercing period. ⋯ To date, only a few reports of breast abscess after nipple piercing have been published. With the increasing prevalence of body piercing, it is important to document and report infections which may be discovered many months following piercing. Carcinoma can mimic breast abscess and should be included in the differential diagnosis.

Streptococcus pneumoniae is a rare cause of sepsis in the newborn. ⋯ In preventing the probable complications, it is important to absolutely treat the maternal pneumococcal colonization that can cause severe infections in the newborn and also to treat the newborns even if they are asymptomatic.

Comparative Study Clinical TrialComparison of metformin and clomiphene citrate therapy for induction of ovulation in the polycystic ovary syndrome.
To compare the efficacy of metformin and clomiphene citrate (CC) therapies for ovulation induction in anovulatory infertile women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). ⋯ Although metformin and CC are two effective first-line approaches for improving pregnancy rates in anovulatory PCOS women, CC is associated with higher rates of ovulation.
