YouTube is a video-sharing platform used by ∼2 billion people per month, and videos are watched in high numbers in the medical field. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the scientific reliability and the relationship between the quality and popularity of the most watched YouTube videos on cancer and nutrition. ⋯ Videos about cancer and nutrition were highly watched, but the overall quality and reliability were low. Although the source of the information presented and its deficiencies and sometimes misleading statements were found, it was determined that the videos with less reliability were watched more. There is a need to produce quality content on YouTube or similar platforms.

Little is known whether diet quality modulates lung cancer risk in smokers. The aim of the study was to assess the dietary habits of a large group of volunteers participating in the lung cancer screening program. ⋯ The surveyed population of smokers did not follow dietary recommendations; there was a particularly high index of an unhealthy diet in by people diagnosed with lung cancer. Prevention programs should be based on encouraging smoking cessation, lifestyle modification, and methods of early detection of lung cancer. Lifestyle modification should include changing eating habits based on a healthy diet, which may be an additional factor in reducing the risk of developing cancer.

Efficacy and acceptability of vitamin D supplements for depressed patients: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
This systematic review and meta-analysis synthesized the evidence from randomized controlled trials comparing vitamin D and placebo in reducing depressive symptoms and contributing to all-cause dropout rates. ⋯ Heterogeneous data suggested that vitamin D supplements are effective and safe for depressed patients.

Changes in energy, macronutrient, and food consumption in 47 countries over the last 70 years (1950-2019): a systematic review and meta-analysis.
We aimed to systematically examine trends in dietary energy, macronutrient, and food consumption in different geographic regions. ⋯ Our findings indicate regional variations in dietary trends and identify countries that would benefit from nutritional policies aimed at decreasing lower-quality carbohydrate foods and increasing consumption of fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes, and dairy.

Prevalence and economic cost of malnutrition in Italy: A systematic review and metanalysis from the Italian Society of Artificial Nutrition and Metabolism (SINPE).
Disease-related malnutrition (DRM) is a major public health issue with dramatic consequences on outcomes. However, in Italy a comprehensive and updated overview on national prevalence, in both the adult and pediatric populations, and its burden on the health care environment, is missing. The aim of this systematic literature review and meta-analysis was to identify and summarize the available evidence regarding the prevalence of DRM in Italy from pediatric to adult and older ages, and to project its global costs on the health care system. ⋯ Although comparable in magnitude to data from previous studies in analogous international settings, the diffusion and effects of DRM in the Italian setting is impressive. Increased awareness of these data and proactive fostering of clinical nutrition services are warranted, as prompt identification and treatment of malnutrition have been shown to effectively improve clinical and economic results.
