Anesthesia-controlled time and turnover time for ambulatory upper extremity surgery performed with regional versus general anesthesia.
To test the hypothesis that regional anesthesia (RA) employing a block room reduces anesthesia-controlled time for ambulatory upper extremity surgery compared with general anesthesia (GA). ⋯ Peripheral nerve block performed preoperatively in an induction area or LA injected in the OR significantly reduces anesthesia-controlled time for ambulatory upper extremity surgery compared with GA. Turnover time is unaffected by anesthetic technique. These results may increase acceptance of RA in the ambulatory surgery setting.

Tracheal intubation by non-anesthesia residents using the Pentax-AWS airway scope and Macintosh laryngoscope.
To evaluate the performance of the Pentax-AWS airway scope for tracheal intubation compared with the Macintosh laryngoscope by non-anesthesia residents. ⋯ The Pentax-AWS appears to require less operator skill than the Macintosh laryngoscope. Use of the Pentax-AWS may reduce the time to secure the airway and the incidence of failed tracheal intubation by non-anesthesia residents.

Transdermal scopolamine patch in addition to ondansetron for postoperative nausea and vomiting prophylaxis in patients undergoing ambulatory cosmetic surgery.
To determine the efficacy of transdermal scopolamine in addition to ondansetron in decreasing the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV). ⋯ Transdermal scopolamine in addition to ondansetron benefits patients at high risk for PONV undergoing outpatient plastic surgery for up to 20 hours after surgery.

Effect of administration of pre-warmed intravenous fluids on the frequency of hypothermia following spinal anesthesia for Cesarean delivery.
To determine whether administration of pre-warmed colloid followed by pre-warmed crystalloid solution prevents the development of hypothermia in patients undergoing Cesarean delivery. ⋯ Administration of pre-warmed intravenous colloid followed by crystalloids maintained core temperature during Cesarean delivery and induced higher Apgar scores and umbilical arterial pH.
