To investigate the association between patient body mass index (BMI) and operating room duration. ⋯ In an academic hospital, patients with BMI ≥ 30 required more time in the operating room than patients with BMI < 30, when controlling for confounders. This information can be incorporated into modern-day OR scheduling software, potentially resulting in more accurate case duration estimates that reduce waiting and improve OR efficiency.

Observational Study
Neuromuscular end-point predictive capability of published rocuronium pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic models: An observational trial.
Objective neuromuscular monitoring remains the single most reliable method to ensure optimal perioperative neuromuscular management. Nevertheless, the prediction of clinical neuromuscular endpoints by means of Pharmacokinetic (PK) and Pharmacodynamic (PD) modelling has the potential to complement monitoring and improve perioperative neuromuscular management.s STUDY OBJECTIVE: The present study aims to assess the performance of published Rocuronium PK/PD models in predicting intraoperative Train-of-four (TOF) ratios when benchmarked against electromyographic TOF measurements. ⋯ Simulated TOF ratios based on published PK/PD models do not accurately predict real intraoperative TOF ratio dynamics.
