To determine the incidence and morbidity of surgical site infections (SSI) during prostatectomy, and determine the association with surgical approach. The development of a SSI after radical prostatectomy is associated with increased cost and significant morbidity. However, existing comparisons between open and robotic surgery have been made comparing a contemporary robotic experience with historical cohorts undergoing open surgery. ⋯ Patients undergoing RARP are less likely to develop SSIs than patients undergoing RRP. Furthermore, the infections that develop after minimally invasive surgery are less severe. Continued investigation into the mechanisms of SSIs are needed to further decrease patient morbidity.

To investigate the association of CYP17 polymorphism with 17β-estradiol (E2) and testosterone (T) concentration in hypospadias. ⋯ Our study suggests that, although polymorphism in CYP17 gene may not be associated with 17β-E2 and T concentrations in hypospadias cases, low levels of T and higher E2/T ratio might possibly act as risk factors for hypospadias.

To evaluate paclitaxel, bleomycin, etoposide, and cisplatin (T-BEP) in patients with poor-prognosis nonseminomatous germ cell tumor (NSGCT). Paclitaxel is an active treatment of nonseminomatous germ cell tumors. ⋯ T-BEP did not improve PFS in patients with poor-prognosis NSGCT. The administration of T-BEP from cycle 1 resulted in excessive toxicity but was administered safely from cycle 2.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
A prospective, randomized controlled study comparing lidocaine and tramadol in periprostatic nerve blockage for transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy.
To assess the efficacy of tramadol and lidocaine in reducing pain using the periprostatic nerve block technique with a spinal needle, guided by transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) before the biopsy application. ⋯ In this study, we showed that the local anesthetic effect of tramadol in decreasing pain in periprostatic nerve block during TRUS-guided biopsy. The use of tramadol for pain relief in transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy is a practical, effective, and comfortable method compared with the results of the control group.

To determine whether Internet search volume for kidney stones has seasonal and geographic distributions similar to known kidney stone incidence. ⋯ Internet search volume activity for kidney stones correlates with temporal and regional kidney stone insurance claims data. In the future, with improved modeling of search detection algorithms and increased Internet usage, search volume has the potential to serve as a surrogate for kidney stone incidence.
