To better understand promotion timelines across gender and race/ethnicity and how academic output impacts promotion in urology. ⋯ We identified disparities in promotion times based on gender but not race and ethnicity. The number of under-represented minority faculty in urology is low. Understanding the causes of disparities should be a priority in order to support fair promotion practices and retention of diverse faculty.

To explore the effect of overlapping surgery on the risk of adverse outcomes in urologic surgery. ⋯ Nonconcurrent overlapping surgery is not associated with adverse outcomes in a large, matched urologic surgery population across 1 academic health system.

To ensure procedure success, American Urological Association Guidelines recommend postvasectomy semen analysis (PVSA); however, current literature suggests poor compliance. We sought to measure PVSA compliance and assess barriers to completion. ⋯ Patients demonstrated poor PVSA compliance despite preprocedural counseling. Given that distance and time constraints limited compliance, incorporating home-based semen testing may improve the quality of care for men undergoing vasectomy.

To elucidate the accuracy of MRI and MRI-ultrasound fusion guided targeted biopsy (TBx) on risk stratification in men who underwent subsequent radical prostatectomy (RP). ⋯ Accurate risk stratification is critical for disease management, mandated by the increasing use of active surveillance, partial gland ablation, and androgen deprivation therapy with radiation therapy for men with unfavorable intermediate and high-risk prostate cancer. This study confirms the need for advances in imaging and biomarker to increase the accuracy of pretreatment staging.

Comparing Outcomes for Patients with Clinical T1b Renal Cell Carcinoma Treated With Either Percutaneous Microwave Ablation or Surgery.
To compare perioperative and oncologic outcomes for patients with clinical T1b renal cell carcinoma following treatment with microwave ablation (MW), partial nephrectomy (PN), or radical nephrectomy (RN). ⋯ Microwave ablation is a feasible alternative to surgery in select comorbid patients with clinical T1b renal cell carcinoma.
