Comparative StudyComparative analysis of femoral bone loss: uncemented vs. cemented aseptic stem loosening in first-time revision surgery-a retrospective evaluation of 215 patients.
The integrity of the femoral bone is crucial when considering reconstructive options for the first-time revision of a total hip arthroplasty (THA). Aseptic loosening of primary stems, whether cemented or uncemented, significantly affects the volume and quality of resultant femoral bone loss. This study evaluates the impact of the initial fixation method on femoral bone defect patterns by comparing the extent of bone loss. ⋯ Uncemented primary stems necessitating first-time revision due to aseptic loosening demonstrated notably smaller femoral bone defects in comparison to primary cemented stems.

Comparative StudyHigher rates of intraoperative fractures with compaction broaching compared to conventional broaching during hip hemiarthroplasty for femoral neck fractures.
Intraoperative periprosthetic femoral fracture (IPFF) is a known iatrogenic complication during hemiarthroplasty (HA) which may lead to inferior outcomes. The risk factors for IPFF during HA in displaced femoral neck fractures (FNF) remains to be fully elucidated. This study aims to compare IPFF rates between compaction broaching and conventional broaching techniques for cementless HA in FNF. ⋯ This study reveals higher rates of IPFF associated with compaction broaching. Although this finding may have minimal clinical relevance, surgeons should consider these results when considering implant selection.

Comparative StudyComparison of femoral bone remodeling after total hip arthroplasty with cementless short-tapered wedge stem and fully hydroxyapatite-coated stem.
We aimed to compare periprosthetic femoral bone remodeling after cementless total hip arthroplasty (THA) using a short-tapered wedge stem and a fully hydroxyapatite (HA)-coated stem. ⋯ Clinical and radiographical outcomes in both groups were good, and both stems suppressed postoperative BMD loss at 2 years.

Fresh osteochondral allograft transplantation for knee full-thickness articular cartilage lesions using femoral head of living donors: short-term results.
Fresh osteochondral allograft transplantation is a good treatment option of cartilage defects. However, this treatment option is not available in all countries due to limited graft availability and tissue banks limitations. The purpose of this study is to assess the short term functional and imaging outcomes of fresh osteochondral allograft transplantation in the knee using the femoral head of living donors. ⋯ Femoral head of living donors is a valid new source for fresh osteochondral allograft transplantation of knee osteochondral lesions. Short term results showed improvement in clinical assessment scores. Follow up imaging showed graft incorporation and good MRI scores.

Impact of size and fragmentation of the anteroinferior glenoid rim on clinical and functional outcomes of non-operatively treated Bony Bankart lesions in middle-aged population.
The optimal treatment approach for Bony Bankart remains a subject of considerable debate among shoulder surgeons. Existing literature highlights low recurrence rates and high patient satisfaction with nonoperative treatment, particularly in the middle-aged population. This study aimed to evaluate the recurrence rate of dislocation, as well as the clinical and functional outcomes in middle-aged individuals treated nonoperatively following an acute bony Bankart fracture. Additionally, the impact of glenoid rim size and fragmentation on the treatment outcome was investigated. ⋯ IV.
