Randomized Controlled TrialA double-blind, randomized trial of low-dose topiramate vs propranolol in migraine prophylaxis.
To assess the efficacy and safety of low-dose topiramate in migraine prophylaxis vs propranolol. ⋯ This study demonstrated that both low-dose topiramate and propranolol could significantly reduce migraine headache frequency, intensity, and duration. However, compared with propranolol, low-dose topiramate showed better results.

Predictors of outcome after temporal lobectomy for refractory temporal lobe epilepsy.
To identify predictors of outcome after epilepsy surgery in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE). ⋯ Febrile convulsions and HA were predictors of outcome after epilepsy surgery in TLE. Subtle volume loss in amygdala, temporal lobe or hemispheres and the memory ipsilateral to the side of resection were not associated with outcome.

Risk of dementia associated with the ApoE epsilon4 allele and falls causing head injury without explicit traumatic brain injury.
Severe head injury (HI) and the apolipoprotein E (ApoE) epsilon4 allele are risk factors for dementia. The corresponding effect of falls causing HI without explicit traumatic brain injury (TBI) in association with the ApoE epsilon4 is not known. ⋯ According to the results of this small retrospective study, falls with HI without explicit TBI in connection with the ApoE epsilon4 allele is associated with subsequent dementia among older adults.
