Randomized Controlled Trial Observational StudyEEG spindles integrity in critical care adults. Analysis of a randomized trial.
Occurrence of EEG spindles has been recently associated with favorable outcome in ICU patients. Available data mostly rely on relatively small patients' samples, particular etiologies, and limited variables ascertainment. We aimed to expand previous findings on a larger dataset, to identify clinical and EEG patterns correlated with spindle occurrence, and explore its prognostic implications. ⋯ Besides confirming that spindle activity occurs in up to one third of acutely ill patients and is associated with better outcome, this study shows that cEEG has a higher yield than rEEG in identifying them. Furthermore, it unravels associations with several clinical and EEG features in this clinical setting.

Observational StudyTelehealth approach for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients: the experience during COVID-19 pandemic.
Specialized multidisciplinary ALS care has been shown to extend survival and improve patient's and caregiver's quality of life. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the management of patients suddenly changed and telemedicine has been proven to be as effective as outpatient care. We elaborate the experience with Telemedicine of a Tertiary ALS Center from an Italian geographical area with high infectious risk during the COVID-19 pandemic. ⋯ Our study positively reproduced the multidisciplinary approach currently used with ALS patients, trying to stabilize the functional and metabolic status and improving the psychological one. Future directions include a personalized telemedicine program according to the patient's needs.

Meta AnalysisCannabidiol in conjunction with clobazam: analysis of four randomized controlled trials.
To assess the efficacy and safety profile of add-on cannabidiol (CBD) in patients with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) and Dravet syndrome (DS) on clobazam and in the overall population of four randomized, controlled phase 3 trials. ⋯ Add-on CBD was effective in reducing seizures in the overall populations and in conjunction with clobazam. Somnolence and sedation occurred more frequently in patients on CBD and clobazam.

Epilepsy and lockdown: A survey of patients normally attending a Spanish centre.
Lockdown due to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic became a challenge to maintain care for patients with epilepsy; we aimed to find out how the pandemic affected them. ⋯ Seizure frequency and severity remained unchanged in most patients during the lockdown. Mood and sleep disorders were common and associated with seizure worsening. Patients were open to telematic care in the future.

Critical illness polyneuromyopathy: Functional impact after severe acquired brain injuries.
Critical illness polyneuropathy and myopathy (CIPNM) frequently affects critical patients and can occur after severe acquired brain injuries (sABI) influencing the functional recovery. We aimed to assess how the concomitance between CIPNM and sABI might influence the rehabilitative outcomes in terms of functional autonomy, oral feeding recovery and endotracheal tube weaning. ⋯ CIPMN significantly affects the rehabilitative outcomes after a sABI and should be taken into account for better rehabilitative handling.
