Systemic evaluation on ischemia and reperfusion injury of splanchnic organs in rats.
To evaluate hemodynamic and systemic changes during and after splanchnic ischemia and reperfusion (I/R). ⋯ The model of ischemia used causes systemic changes, which are evidenced by hypotension, decrease in mesenteric blood flow, heart rate and esophageal temperature.

The influence of lidocaine and racemic bupivacaine on neuromuscular blockade produced by rocuronium. A study in rat phrenic nerve-diaphragm preparation.
To evaluate in vitro lidocaine and racemic bupivacaine effects in neuromuscular transmission and in neuromuscular blockade produced by rocuronium. ⋯ Local anesthetics potentiated the blockade caused by rocuronium. The alterations of MEPP identify presynaptic action.

Preconditioning abolishion by midazolam in isolated hearts of rats.
To study the effects of benzodiazepine midazolam in the coronary flow (Cflo), cardiac frequency (CF) and myocardial contractility in isolated hearts of rats subjected to ischemic preconditioning (IPC). ⋯ Midazolam, when administered before the ischemia, was unable to prevent the ischemic deterioration of the myocardium. When administered before the preconditioning, it has abolished its protective effect.

Hemodynamic effects of volume replacement with saline solution and hypertonic hydroxyethyl starch in dogs.
To investigate hemodynamic response to volume replacement with saline solution and hypertonic hydroxyethyl starch in hypovolemic dogs. ⋯ Both solutions proved to be efficient at replacing volume in the short period studied, although hypertonic hydroxyethyl starch produced more stable results.
