Review Meta AnalysisSystematic review and meta-analysis of the accuracy of MRI to diagnose appendicitis in the general population.
To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of all published studies since 2005 that evaluate the accuracy of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for the diagnosis of acute appendicitis in the general population presenting to emergency departments. ⋯ MRI has a high sensitivity and specificity for the diagnosis of appendicitis, similar to that reported previously for computed tomography. Development and evaluation of a multichannel endorectal RF coil for prostate MRI at 7T in combination with an external surface array.
To develop and evaluate a sterilizable multichannel endorectal coil (ERC) for use in combination with an external surface array (ESA) for high-resolution anatomical and functional studies of the prostate at 7T. ⋯ The reusable ERC-2L combined with an ESA offers a high SNR imaging platform for translational studies of the prostate at 7T. Gray and white matter alterations in early HIV-infected patients: Combined voxel-based morphometry and tract-based spatial statistics.
To investigate both the gray matter (GM) and whiter matter (WM) alterations in a homogeneous cohort of early HIV-infected patients by combining voxel-based morphometry (VBM) and tract-based spatial statistics (TBSS). ⋯ Our results indicate that structural brain alterations occurred early in HIV-infected patients. The current study may shed further light on the potential brain effects of HIV. J. Magn. Reson. Imaging 2016;43:1474-1483.

Magnetic resonance diffusion tensor imaging of cervical spinal cord and lumbosacral enlargement in patients with cervical spondylotic myelopathy.
To identify the correlations of diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) indices between the cervical spinal cord and lumbosacral enlargement in healthy volunteers and patients with cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM). ⋯ The ADC value of the cervical spinal cord and lumbosacral enlargement in CSM patients showed significant increase compared with healthy volunteers, while the FA value significantly decreased. Both DTI indices of the cervical spinal cord had no linear correlation with those of the lumbosacral enlargement. J. Magn. Reson. Imaging 2016;43:1484-1491.

Automated detection of white matter and cortical lesions in early stages of multiple sclerosis.
To develop a method to automatically detect multiple sclerosis (MS) lesions, located both in white matter (WM) and in the cortex, in patients with low disability and early disease stage. ⋯ For WM lesion detection, similar results were observed when only conventional clinical sequences (FLAIR, MPRAGE) were used compared to a combination of conventional and "advanced" sequences (MP2RAGE, DIR). Cortical lesion detection increased significantly when "advanced" sequences were used. J. Magn. Reson. Imaging 2015. J. Magn. Reson. Imaging 2016;43:1445-1454.
