Pulmonary pulse wave velocity (PWV) allows the non-invasive measurement of pulmonary arterial stiffening, but has not previously been assessed in COPD. The aim of the current study was to assess PWV in COPD and its association with right ventricular (RV) remodelling. ⋯ While pulmonary vascular remodelling is present in COPD, cardiac remodelling favours reduced filling rather than increased afterload. Treatment of obstructive lung disease may have greater effect on cardiac function than treatment of pulmonary vascular disease in most COPD patients KEY POINTS: • Pulmonary pulse wave velocity (PWV) is elevated in COPD. • Pulmonary PWV is not associated with right ventricular remodelling. • Right ventricular remodelling is more in keeping with that of reduced filling.

Review Meta Analysis
Endovascular interventional modalities for haemorrhage control in abnormal placental implantation deliveries: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
To examine the evidence regarding the effectiveness and safety of endovascular interventional modalities for haemorrhage control in abnormal placentation deliveries. ⋯ • Endovascular intervention in abnormal placentation deliveries is effective in reducing blood loss. • Endovascular intervention did not result in longer operative time or hospital stay. • Prophylactic balloon occlusion of the abdominal aorta is superior to other modalities.

To investigate the role of 18F-FDG PET/CT to detect bone marrow (BM) involvement in paediatric non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). ⋯ • PET/CT allows for accurate detection of bone marrow involvement. • Patterns of bone marrow FDG uptake are highly correlated with marrow disease. • Bone marrow biopsy could be omitted in selected paediatric patients.

To determine the utility of cervical spine MRI in blunt trauma evaluation for instability after a negative non-contrast cervical spine CT. ⋯ • MRI has limited utility after negative cervical CT in blunt trauma. • MRI is frequently positive for non-specific soft-tissue injury. • Unstable injury missed on CT is infrequent.

To predict ATRX mutation status in patients with lower-grade gliomas using radiomic analysis. ⋯ • ATRX in lower-grade gliomas could be predicted using radiomic analysis. • The LASSO regression algorithm and SVM performed well in radiomic analysis. • Nine radiomic features were screened as an ATRX-predictive radiomic signature. • The machine-learning model for ATRX-prediction was validated by an independent database.
