Case ReportsMassive systemic air embolism treated with hyperbaric oxygen therapy following CT-guided transthoracic needle biopsy of a pulmonary nodule.
A rare complication of computed tomography (CT)-guided biopsies of pulmonary lesions is systemic air embolism, with hyperbaric oxygen therapy being considered the mainstay of therapy. The authors describe the case of a 47-year-old man with a left upper lobe mass invading the chest wall who underwent CT-guided needle biopsy of a right lung base nodule to evaluate for metastatic disease. This procedure was complicated by massive systemic air embolism confirmed by CT scan. After initial resuscitative measures, the patient received on-site hyperbaric oxygen therapy and demonstrated no residual clinical sequelae from this complication.

ReviewUpdate on the management of neuroendocrine hepatic metastases.
Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) are rare and represent a diverse collection of malignancies that occur in many organ systems throughout the body, including the gastrointestinal and respiratory tracts. Unfortunately, the majority of patients with NETs have hepatic metastases at the time of diagnosis. ⋯ Although many patients have long indolent courses, without treatment, most patients die within 5 years of diagnosis. This article reviews the care of patients with NETs and hepatic metastases, with emphasis on the increasingly important role of oncologic image-guided interventions.

Diffusion-weighted MR imaging for determination of hepatocellular carcinoma response to yttrium-90 radioembolization.
Early detection of the response of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) to yttrium-90 radioembolization therapy may be important to permit repeat radioembolization or alternative treatment options. Water-mobility measurements with use of diffusion-weighted (DW) magnetic resonance (MR) imaging are useful for noninvasive interrogation of microstructural tissue properties. ⋯ In each of six patients with HCC included in the study, tumor water diffusion increased significantly after therapy. DW MR imaging is a promising technique for noninvasive assessment of tumor response to (90)Y radioembolization.

Multicenter StudyGünther Tulip filter retrievability multicenter study including CT follow-up: final report.
To evaluate the safety and effectiveness of retrieval of the Günther Tulip inferior vena cava (IVC) filter. ⋯ In this multicenter study, retrieval of the Günther Tulip filter was safe and without recurrent thromboembolic events or evidence of IVC or jugular vein damage at 3-month follow-up.
