LEVEL OF PAIN AND ANALGESICS TAKEN AFTER CESAREAN SECTION AND DIFFERENCES ACCORDING TO TYPE OF ANESTHESIA AND DEMOGRAPHIC FACTORS.
The aim of this study was to investigate the level of pain and analgesic consumption in puerperas after cesarean section according to the type of anesthesia administered. This was a prospective study conducted at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Mostar University Hospital, in the period from September 2015 to June 2016. The study included 111 puerperas. ⋯ Higher level of education was associated with greater need for analgesics (p=0.016). Living in urban area was associated with greater pain sensation (p=0.023) and less need for analgesics (p<0.17). Spinal anesthesia for cesarean section resulted in less pain and less need for analgesics in the postoperative period compared to general anesthesia.

Review Case ReportsHIGH-FLOW NASAL CANNULA COMBINED WITH PRONE POSITIONING AS AN INTUBATION ALTERNATIVE IN COVID-19: A CASE REPORT AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE.
The use of high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) in COVID-19 patients is a controversial topic due to the benefits and risks which may occur in patients and healthcare workers. The goal of this treatment modality is potential avoidance of invasive mechanical ventilation, but generation of aerosol and increased healthcare professional infection risk must be considered. We present a case of a SARS-CoV-2-positive 71-year-old male with acute hypoxemic respiratory failure, who was successfully treated with HFNC combined with prone positioning. Furthermore, we discuss recent literature concerning potential issues of HFNC treatment in COVID-19 patients.

IS A DECREASED NITRIC OXIDE CONCENTRATION AFTER TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE INTRAVITREAL INJECTION ONE OF THE REASONS FOR INTRAOCULAR PRESSURE RISE?
Diabetic macular edema is the most common cause of vision loss in patients affected by diabetes mellitus. For eyes with persistent retinal thickening despite anti-VEGF therapy, treatment with intravitreal triamcinolone may be considered, especially in pseudophakic eyes. The aim of this study was to examine aqueous humor nitric oxide concentration changes in pseudophakic eyes with persistent diffuse diabetic macular edema after intravitreal injection of triamcinolone acetonide, as well as the potential impact of these changes on the intraocular pressure values. ⋯ After that, nitric oxide concentrations began to rise slightly, and at the end of the ninth month the mean nitric oxide concentration was similar to that recorded at the beginning of the study. Intraocular pressure values had increasing trend one month after the intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide injection (23.70±4.08 mm Hg) compared to the initial values (16.21±1.55 mm Hg), but after nine months these values returned to normal levels. Decreased concentration of nitric oxide could be one of the reasons for increased intraocular pressure after intravitreal application of triamcinolone acetonide in the treatment of diffuse diabetic macular edema.

MODERATING EFFECT OF BODY HEIGHT ON THE ASSOCIATION OF BODY WEIGHT AND DISABILITY CAUSED BY NON SPECIFIC CHRONIC LOW BACK PAIN IN WOMEN AND MEN.
The aim of the study was testing the hypothesis that body height has a moderating effect on the association of weight and chronic low back pain (LBP) induced disability, and that this moderating effect is different in women and men. We performed a nested cross-sectional analysis using data collected at baseline in a prospective cohort study conducted in 2008-2009 at a special hospital for medical rehabilitation in Croatia. The outcome was the Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMDQ) score. ⋯ The interaction of sex, body weight and height was a significant predictor of the RMDQ score after adjustments for all covariates (increase of R2=0.13; p=0.001; false discovery rate <5%). In both sexes, the correlation between body weight and the RMDQ score was significantly moderated by body height but in opposite ways. In conclusion, the effects of body weight on physical disability are moderated by body height, but this moderation effect differs between women and men.

IMPACT OF BODY COMPOSITION ON THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF PREMENOPAUSAL PATIENTS WITH EARLY STAGE BREAST CANCER DURING CHEMOTHERAPY.
Body composition has been studied relatively recently as part of oncology trials in different types of tumors. There are numerous studies that define the impact of chemotherapy side effects on the quality of life (QoL) of breast cancer patients, however, there are few studies that analyze the impact of body composition on the QoL of premenopausal patients in the course of cytotoxic treatment. The study was performed on a sample of premenopausal patients treated with neoadjuvant or adjuvant AC chemotherapy for early-stage breast cancer at Day Hospital of the Department of Medical Oncology, University Hospital for Tumors in Zagreb. ⋯ Analysis of the QoL questionnaires and their association with body composition indicated several interesting results. At the beginning of treatment, most pronounced was the connection between body composition and physical and sexual functioning and hair loss, while in subsequent treatment cycles the effect on other QoL subdomains, in particular fatigue and diarrhea, was more pronounced. In conclusion, we found body composition to have a significant impact on certain QoL subdomains during treatment.
