IS CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION OUTCOME IN PRE-HOSPITAL EMERGENCY MEDICINE RELATED TO AIRWAY MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUE?
According to current European Resuscitation Council guidelines, priorities in advanced life support in adult are chest compression with minimal interruption and early defibrillation. Endotracheal intubation is still considered the gold standard in airway management, but guidelines suggest that securing the airway be incremental, ranging from basic techniques to more complex ones. Doctors who work in pre-hospital emergency medicine teams (EMT) in Croatia usually lack sufficient education and expertise. ⋯ There were 968 patients, mean age 70. In 74.61% of patients, the cause of arrest was of cardiac etiology. Our study did not find a statistically significant in difference of CPR success among the three groups analyzed according to the airway management technique of choice (p=0.74, χ2-test).

The purpose of this study was to present and analyze patients with audiovestibular post COVID-19 syndrome, and highlight the most characteristic and most common findings. We analyzed 87 patients aged between 20 and 86 years who presented to the Audiology Division between February 1, 2021 and July 1, 2021 after having been isolated due to the SARS-CoV-2 infection. Study patients presented with complaints of persistent hearing loss, tinnitus, and vertigo, lasting for more than 3 months. ⋯ Vertigo occurred in 9 patients, all of which were new-onset. A conclusion of our research is that audiovestibular post-COVID syndrome does exist. Further research with more patients and over a longer period is needed to obtain a better and longer effect on the audiovestibular system and audiovestibular complications, as well as an insight into possible recovery.

REASONS FOR DEFERRAL IN DEFERRED VOLUNTARY BLOOD DONORS IN EASTERN CROATIA.
When choosing a voluntary blood donor (VBD), it is important to ensure the donor health, and at the same time to produce a quality and safe blood product. The donor selection process leads to donor rejection related to their current health condition. The aim of this study was to determine gender differences in VBDs, to examine the reasons for their rejection, and to determine the share of permanently and temporarily deferred VBD, especially due to low hemoglobin levels. ⋯ Low hemoglobin was the most common reason for VBD deferral. Gender and age are related to blood hemoglobin levels in rejected and accepted donors. Female VBDs represent a potential reservoir for increasing the total number of VBDs.

Case ReportsRARE INTRACRANIAL MULTIFOCAL NON-GERMINOMATOUS GERM CELL TUMOR IN AN 18-YEAR-OLD MALE: A CASE REPORT.
Intracranial germ cell tumors are rare brain tumors that are distinguished based on their histology and selected tumor markers. Non-germinomatous germ cell tumors are a diverse group of such tumors having the poorest prognosis. Most commonly, they are located in the suprasellar and pineal regions. ⋯ In conclusion, initial evaluation with neuroimaging, tumor markers, and cytology from cerebrospinal fluid is important as guidance to further treatment and prognosis. In selected cases, biopsy may not be indicated to start adjuvant chemotherapy. We emphasize the importance of specific treatment modality selection based mainly on tumor markers, regardless of the precise histologic classification.

NONINVASIVE MECHANICAL VENTILATION IN COVID-19 RELATED ACUTE RESPIRATORY FAILURE.
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is presented with a wide range of symptoms, from asymptomatic disease to severe and progressive interstitial pneumonia. As part of interstitial pneumonia, respiratory failure is typically presented as hypoxia and is the most common cause of hospitalization. When oxygen therapy fails, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) or noninvasive mechanical ventilation (NIV) are used as respiratory support measures of first choice. ⋯ NIV could be administered via a face mask or helmet interface. Helmet adheres better than mask and therefore leakage is reduced, a delivery of positive end-expiratory pressure is more accurate, and the risk of nosocomial transmission of infections is lowered. Patients on NIRS must be carefully monitored so that further respiratory deterioration is not overlooked and additional measures of care including timely intubation and invasive mechanical ventilation could be performed if needed.
