More than 10,000 ankle arthroscopy procedures are performed in the United Kingdom annually. Tourniquet use is thought to allow improved visibility and reduce operative time. However this is not without risk as it predisposes to neurovascular injury. The purpose of our study was to establish the feasibility of a subsequent larger randomized controlled trial, to test the hypothesis that tourniquet use might be unnecessary in ankle arthroscopy. ⋯ Level III, comparative series.

Comparison of surgical techniques of 111 medial malleolar fractures classified by fracture geometry.
Evaluation of operative techniques used for medial malleolar fractures by classifying fracture geometry has not been well documented. ⋯ Level III, retrospective comparative series.

Because recurrent peroneal subluxation can produce functional impairment in athletes, most authors suggest operative intervention for patients who fail nonoperative treatment. The present report introduces the modified sliding fibular graft repair for this pathology. ⋯ Level III, retrospective comparative study.

Chronic diastasis of the syndesmosis has been recognized as a cause of persistent pain and dysfunction after a rotational ankle injury. Recently, there has been an increased effort to define the use of computed tomography (CT) imaging in making this diagnosis; however, no clear consensus has been reached on the best way to assess the anatomical integrity of the syndesmosis. In this retrospective case series, we have evaluated the diagnostic capability of 2 novel CT-based measurements. ⋯ Level IV, diagnostic.
