ReviewA review of hospital characteristics associated with improved performance.
The objective of this review was to critically appraise the literature relating to associations between high-level structural and operational hospital characteristics and improved performance. ⋯ There is limited, mainly low-quality evidence, supporting the associations between hospital characteristics and healthcare performance. Further characteristic-specific systematic reviews are indicated.

Reliability and accuracy of the screening for adverse events in Brazilian hospitals.
To analyze the reliability and accuracy of the screening for adverse events (AEs) conducted by nurses taking the assessment by medical residents as the reference. ⋯ The results suggested a good performance of the nurses in the screening for detection of AE and showed significant differences in relation to detection of specific screening criteria among reviewers. A better understanding of the screening process and the performance of reviewers was provided.

Development of an instrument to measure face validity, feasibility and utility of patient questionnaire use during health care: the QQ-10.
To develop and establish the psychometric properties of an instrument to measure face validity, feasibility and utility of patient questionnaires used during health care. ⋯ Our instrument offers a valid, reliable measure of patients' views relating to value and burden of using health-related quality of life questionnaires. Its two domains show good internal reliability and with its free text items, it may offer a valuable, standardized assessment of face validity and utility of other questionnaires used in health care.

Multicenter StudyImplementation of early goal-directed therapy and the surviving sepsis campaign resuscitation bundle in Asia.
To examine the impact of implementing sepsis bundle in multiple Asian countries, having 'team' vs. 'non-team' models of patient care. ⋯ Through education and quality improvement efforts, initially low sepsis bundle compliance was improved in Asia. A team model was more effective in achieving bundle compliance compared with a non-team model.
