In clinical, common facial papule dermatosis such as seborrheic keratosis (SK), verruca plana (VP), syringoma and lichen nitidus (LN) is often misdiagnosed. Summarizing in vivo reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) features of the facial papule dermatosis is helpful in the diagnosis of ambiguous lesions. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the features of SK, VP, syringoma, and LN in RCM. ⋯ Considering our results, RCM may be useful to non-invasively discriminate SK, VP, syringoma and LN in vivo.

Rosacea is one of the most common cutaneous disorder characterized primarily by facial flushing, erythema, papules, pustules, telangiectases, and nasal swelling. Diagnosis of rosacea is principally done by a physical examination and a consistent patient history. However, qualitative human assessment is often subjective and suffers from a relatively high intra- and inter-observer variability in evaluating patient outcomes. ⋯ The findings from this study support that pre-trained networks trained via transfer learning can be beneficial in identifying rosacea lesions. Our future work will involve expanding the work to a larger database of cases with varying degrees of disease characteristics.

Perfusion of the skin's microcirculation after cold-water immersion (10°C) and partial-body cryotherapy (-135°C).
Investigations of the perfusion of the skin's microcirculation with laser speckle contrast imaging (LSCI) after cold treatments are rare. Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare the effects between cold-water immersion (CWI) conduction and partial-body cryotherapy (PBC) convection on perfusion of the microcirculation and skin temperature on the thigh. ⋯ Cold-water immersion reduced local skin microcirculation and skin temperature while PBC only slightly increased the perfusion of the microcirculation immediately after the treatment. For cooling purposes, the conduction method seems superior compared to the convection method, assessed with a LSCI device.

Although measuring would size using digital photography is a quick and simple method to evaluate the skin wound, the possible compatibility of it has not been fully validated. ⋯ For the follow-up of small skin defect (diameter: <3 cm), our newly developed automated wound area calculation method is able to be applied to the plenty of photographs, and the average values of them are a relatively useful index of wound healing with acceptable error rate.
