To investigate the impact of racial disparities and Socioeconomic Status (SES) on pelvic floor disorder (PFD) care. ⋯ Disparities in the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal PFD exist among ethnic minorities and patients of low SES. This study allows for the replication of service provision frameworks in other affected areas to minimize inequalities.

Recent retrospective studies suggest a role for distinct microbiota in the perioperative morbidity and mortality of pancreatic head resections. ⋯ The presence of Enterococcus spp. in bile ducts of PDAC patients undergoing pancreatic surgery represents a significant risk factor for perioperative infections and, thereby, elevated postoperative and long-term mortality. This finding supports previous data on the use of the antibiotic drug piperacillin-tazobactam as appropriate perioperative antibiotic prophylaxis for preventing adverse outcomes after pancreatoduodenectomy.

This study aimed to compare laparoscopic standard gastrectomy (LSG) and laparoscopic sentinel node navigation surgery (LSNNS) for EGC in terms of 5-year long-term oncologic outcomes. ⋯ The 5-year DFS, DSS and OS did not differ significantly between the two groups. Considering the benefits of LSNNS on postoperative quality of life, LSNNS could be recommended as an alternative treatment option for EGC.

Characterize the distribution of healthcare utilization associated with pre-operative frailty in the year following evaluation by a surgeon. ⋯ Patient frailty is associated with increased total healthcare utilization, primarily via increased inpatient medical and post-acute care following surgery. Quantifying these frailty-related financial burdens may inform clinical decision making as well as the design of value-based reimbursement strategies.

To assess short-term and long-term outcomes following robotic enucleation (REn) of tumors in the proximal pancreas. ⋯ REn for pancreatic head and uncinate process tumors improved clinically relevant outcomes without increased major complications compared to OEn, while demonstrating comparable long-term oncological and functional outcomes.
