Case ReportsDouble Balloon Enteroscopy in a Pregnant Woman with Peutz-Jeghers Syndrome.
Peutz-Jeghers syndrome is an autosomal dominant disorder characterised by multiple hamartomatous polyps and muco-cutaneous pigmentation. Most polyps are found in the small intestine, especially in the jejunum. Enteroscopy with polypectomy is a reliable method to prevent polyp-related complications. ⋯ This procedure was the first double balloon enteroscopy during pregnancy, reported in the literature. The procedure should be performed by experienced endoscopists, who can cope well with the complications in expert centres, as the procedure carries a high risk. Observational StudyAnatomical Variations of the Celiac Trunk and Hepatic Arteries with a New Classification, Based on CT Angiography.
To analyse the distribution of anatomical variations in both celiac trunk (CeT) and hepatic artery (HA) branching patterns on computed tomography (CT) angiography images; as well as to propose a new classification by unifying the already reported classifications of the CeT and HA vascular anatomy. ⋯ Awareness of the range of anatomical variation in both the CeT and HA branching patterns, especially concurrent variations, is vital when planning surgical and radiological interventions to prevent possible iatrogenic injury and complications. Using Pensieve: Guiding and Evaluating a Learning Session on Reflections.
The objectives of this study were to guide students on reflective essay writing, evaluate their understanding and explore the immediate impact of a well-designed session on learning of students. A 1.5-hour learning session was designed following Gagne's nine events of instruction and conducted on final year MBBS students to guide them on reflective practice and its significance. The session was evaluated by a self-designed, structured questionnaire given as a pre-test and post-test. ⋯ Five out of nine questions showed a significant effect (p <0.001) in two-tailed t-test. This learning session led to a significant improvement in understanding of students regarding role of reflective practice in modifying their future behaviour, and its role in making them a better professional. Treatment Strategy and Safety of Eribulin in Advanced Breast Cancer.
This study sought to investigate the efficacy and safety of eribulin in advanced breast cancer patients. Eighteen patients with advanced breast cancer were retrospectively included. The previous use of taxanes, and the use of eribulin in subsequent treatment was reviewed. ⋯ Patients who have not been treated with taxanes or who have been treated with taxanes for a long response time, experience better effects when eribulin was used as subsequent treatment. Eribulin combined with anlotinib is the preferred combination therapy. Key Words: Breast cancer, Eribulin, Efficacy, Safety.
