Lipomas are benign mesenchymal tumors that comprise almost one-half of all soft tissue tumors. Lipomas can occur at any site where fat cells are present but are rare in the oral cavity, especially the tongue, which is a very rare site. Lipoma has several variants. ⋯ In conclusion, oral lipomas especially lingual lipomas are a rare entity. Although oral lipomas mostly occur above 40 years of age, they can occur at a younger age. Review Case ReportsEarly Enteral Nutrition Tolerance in a Duodenal Fistula Patient Undergoing Open Abdomen with Vacuum-assisted Temporary Abdominal Closure.
This case sought to manage a duodenal fistula patient who underwent an open abdomen with vacuum-assisted temporary abdominal closure (VAC) by evaluating his tolerance to early enteral nutrition therapy (ENT). A review of the patient suggested that he developed an abdominal infection as a result of a high duodenal fistula, which necessitated an open abdomen and VAC. ⋯ The improved nutritional status of the patient led to the success of duodenal fistula repair and abdominal wall defect reconstruction within a short time, thus ensuring a successful surgery. Review Case ReportsBerardinelli-Seip Congenital Lipodystrophy - A Case Report and Review of Literature.
Berardinelli-Seip Congenital Lipodystrophy (BSCL), also known as congenital generalised lipodystrophy, is a genetic disorder where there is an absolute deficiency of adipose tissue. It affects the development of adipocytes and ultimately leads to an inability to store fat in adipocytes. It is extremely rare. ⋯ BSCL is an infrequent condition leading to several cardiometabolic complications. Timely diagnosis can lead to better management and prevention of complications.
