Observational StudySuperior Mesenteric and Inferior Mesenteric Artery Diameters in Colorectal Cancer.
To compare the superior mesenteric artery (SMA) and inferior mesenteric artery (IMA) diameters in colorectal cancer compared to control. ⋯ Patients with rectal cancer and left colon cancer have a wider IMA diameter than patients without colorectal cancer. IMA diameter can be a potential marker for locoregional staging of rectal cancer. Key Words: Superior mesenteric artery, Inferior mesenteric artery, Colorectal cancer, Markers, Diameter.

To ascertain the safety and efficacy of percutaneous nephrolithomy in patients with previous open renal surgery. ⋯ Percutaneous nephrolithomy is safe and effective in previously operated kidneys despite the possibility of calyceal anatomy distortion and scarring. Key Words: Percutaneous nephrolithotomy, Open surgery, Kidney calculi.

Observational StudyPulmonary Hypertension in Apparently Healthy Children in Southern Nigeria.
To determine the severity and prevalence of pulmonary hypertension and its relationship with age and body mass index (BMI) in healthy children. ⋯ The mean pulmonary artery systolic pressure in the studied apparently healthy Nigerian children was 20.45± 5.34/ mmHg. The frequency of elevated PASP was 2.3%, commoner in children with higher BMI. Age and body mass index are not optimal predictors of PASP. Key Words: Pulmonary artery systolic pressure, Children, Pulmonary hypertension, Echocardiography.

Observational StudyApparent Diffusion Coefficient in Predicting the Preoperative Grade of Meningiomas.
To investigate the relationship between the apparent diffusion coefficients (ADC) value obtained from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and histopathologic grade of meningiomas. ⋯ The data of this study show a significant difference in the ADCmin values on MRI between low- and high-grade meningiomas. A negative correlation was found between histopathologic grade and ADCmin. Key Words: Meningioma, Apparent diffusion coefficient, Magnetic resonance imaging, Histopathological grade, Quantitative.

Case ReportsSuperficial Thrombophlebitis caused by Extensively Drug-resistant Salmonella Enterica Serovar Typhi.
Salmonella enterica serovar typhi causes one of the most common blood stream infections, the typhoid fever. However, it can cause pyogenic infections involving different sites as well. Extensively drug resistant (XDR) strains of Salmonella typhi are resistant to all first line anti-typhoidal drugs (chloramphenicol, ampicillin and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole) as well as ciprofloxacin and ceftriaxone. ⋯ Here, we report a case of superficial thrombophlebitis at intravenous cannula site in a 49-year male, who was being treated for XDR-typhoid fever. To the best of our knowledge, thrombophlebitis of a superficial vein is an unusual complication of Salmonella typhi, not previously reported in literature. Key Words: Bacteremia, Thrombophlebitis, Extensively drug-resistant, Typhoid fever, Salmonella typhi.
