Case ReportsAnaesthetic Management of Cerebral Arterio-venous Malformation Excision Using Awake Craniotomy: Initial Experience of Two Cases.
This case series summarises the successful management of two cases with cerebral arterio-venous malformation (AVM). In first patient, it was located superficially in right frontal cortex, while the second one had this in left parieto-temporal region. Both were excised successfully using awake craniotomy. ⋯ Patients remained pain-free and hemodynamically stable during resection phase. The postoperative period showed adequate pain control, decreased postoperative nausea/vomiting and shorter length of stay in the hospital. Both patients had 100% obliteration of AVM confirmed via cerebral angiography.

Observational StudyNeurological Symptoms and Evaluation of Cerebral Blood Flow Changes with Synthetic Cannabinoids Use.
To describe the cerebral haemodynamic changes that occur in patients presenting to the emergency department (ED) after synthetic cannabinoid (SC) use in order to clarify the pathophysiology of neurologic adverse effects of SCs. ⋯ Cerebral blood flow and resistance changes due to SC use are likely to play a role in the main pathogenesis of the neurological symptoms, increasing the frequency of ischemic or haemorrhagic strokes.

Case ReportsA Case of Immunoglobulin (Ig) G4-related Sclerosing Periaortitis Mimicking Mediastinal Malignant Tumor.
Sclerosing mediastinitis was first described by Oulmont in 1855. The aggressive fibro-inflammatory process that occurs in the mediastinum is the end result of a number of inflammatory processes. It is thought that hypersensitivity reactions to various antigens, autoimmune reactions, and idiopathic fibro-inflammatory responses play a role in the etiology of the disease. ⋯ The disease responded well to steroid treatment, but soon recurred following stoppage of the treatment. The treatment with deflazacort was started again; and he responded well. The lesion disappeared within six months of retreatment.

Observational StudyRelationship between Cellular Immunity Changes and Prognosis in Elderly Patients with Sepsis.
To detect relationship between cellular immunity changes and prognosis in elderly patients with sepsis. ⋯ CD3+T, CD4+T, CD8+T cells and APACHE II scores can be used as independent predictors of the 28-day re-hospitalisation rate.

Vitamin D Levels and Bone Mineral Density in Inborn Errors of Metabolism Requiring Specialised Diets.
To evaluate vitamin D levels and bone mineral density in patients with dietary limitations due to inborn errors of metabolism (IEM) and its correlation with diets. ⋯ Low BMD may be encountered in IEM, independent of vitamin D levels and revision of diet for adequacy of essential nutrients; and follow-up for dietary compliance is inevitable.
