Observational StudyHomeostatic Model Assessment for Insulin Resistance (HOMA-IR): A Better Marker for Evaluating Insulin Resistance Than Fasting Insulin in Women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.
To assess the utility of HOMA-IR in assessing insulin resistance in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and compare it with fasting insulin for assessing insulin resistance (IR). ⋯ Insulin resistance is common in PCOS and it is likely a pathogenic factor for development of PCOS. HOMAIR model performed better than hyperinsulinemia alone for diagnosing IR.

Comparison of Harmless Acute Pancreatitis Score with Ranson's Score in Predicting the Severity of Acute Pancreatitis.
To determine the predictability of harmless acute pancreatitis score (HAPS) in determining the severity of acute pancreatitis (AP) and compare it with Ranson's score. ⋯ HAPS is effective in rapid identification of patient who will run non-severe course of AP. Assessment can be completed within one hour from presentation. Ranson's score, although more accurate, takes 48 hours to complete.

Comparative Study Observational StudyNeutrophil Lymphocyte Ratio: APrognostic Marker in Acute ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction.
To investigate if neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR) predicts in-hospital adverse events and mortality, and shortterm (30-day) mortality in ST-elevated myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients thrombolysed with streptokinase (SK). ⋯ Ahigh NLR predicted increased in hospital complication rate, and in-hospital as well as 30-day mortality in STEMI patients thrombolysed with streptokinase.

Anthropometrical Measurements of Healthy Newborn Babies in Karachi, and the Factors Affecting these Parameters.
The present cross-sectional study was undertaken with the aim of establishing norms for birth weight, crown heel length, and head circumference of the newborns in the population of Karachi. It was conducted in four public and private hospitals of Karachi, covering middle to low-income areas during a period of 2 years. There were 404 mothers and their babies included in this study that fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the study. ⋯ The mean birth weights of the babies were found to be 3.03 ±0.39 kg, crown heel length were 49.2 ±2.4 cm, and OFC were 34 ±1.5 cm. A statistically significant difference was found between the gender of the babies (male=3.07 ±0.4 kg versus female=3.0 ±0.4 kg) for birth weight (p=0.02). This study provides the mean values of anthropometric measurements of the newborns in low-income areas of Karachi.

Case ReportsSpontaneous Uterine Rupture Due to Placenta Percreta in a 17-Week Twin Pregnancy.
Spontaneous rupture of previous uterine scar due to placenta percreta in early second trimester is a very rare and serious complication. A27-year fourth gravida, second para with previous two lower segment caesarean sections, presented at 17-week of twin pregnancy with acute abdominal pain. Ultrasonograghy revealed 17-week diamniotic-dichorionic twin pregnancy with alive fetuses. ⋯ Atransverse fundal incision was given to deliver the twins and total abdominal hysterectomy with preservation of both ovaries was performed. The patient was discharged on fourth postoperative day without any complication. Histopathology of specimen of the uterus confirmed placenta percreta to be the cause of uterine rupture.
