Retinal thickness evaluation in healthy eyes from north-west Punjab through optical coherence tomography.
To determine the mean retinal thickness in healthy eyes from north-west Punjab through commercially available optical coherence tomography (OCT) mapping software, version 3.0, from the Stratus OCT (OCT3). ⋯ Reference values were determined for mean retinal thickness in healthy eyes from north-west Punjab through OCT. These measurements were upto 54-μm higher and upto 29 μm lower than some previously reported healthy retinal thickness values. Therefore, normative database should be determined for the population under study based on regional and ethnic differences.

Comparative StudyClinical applicability of variations in arch dimensions and arch forms among various vertical facial patterns.
To compare dental arch dimensions and arch forms in various vertical facial patterns. ⋯ Statistically significant difference in arch dimensions was found only in maxillary total arch length and mandibular posterior intermolar width. A non-linear relationship was found between arch length and arch width. Wide lower arches were predominant in all face types whereas wide upper arches were predominant in hypo- and hyperdivergent subjects.

Multicenter StudySchool children training for basic life support.
To determine the background knowledge of high school children on basic life support by calculating the points scored in a MCQ-based test; to evaluate results of teaching basic life support skills to them; and assessing their power of retention by re-testing them on skills and MCQ test after the workshop. ⋯ Children can learn and perform basic life support skills with reasonable accuracy and can retain these skills for longer periods. CPR training should be provided to all school children after 6th grade.

Detection of filaggrin gene mutation (2282del4) in Pakistani Ichthyosis vulgaris families.
The aim of this study was to detect an 811 bp filaggrin (FLG) gene fragment known to carry a mutation 2282del4 which causes ichthyosis vulgaris. Seven clinically examined ichthyosis vulgaris families were included in this study. An 811 bp FLG gene fragment was targeted in the genomic DNA of all the members of the seven families by PCR amplification using known primers RPT1P7 and RPT2P1. Successful amplification of an 811 bp FLG gene fragment in all the families suggested the possible role of the 2282del4 mutation in causing ichthyosis vulgaris in Pakistani population.
