Transabdominal preperitoneal laparoscopic approach for the treatment of sportsman's hernia.
Groin pain in athletes presents a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge, particularly in distinguishing between those that will respond to nonoperative management and those that require surgery. Repair of sportsman's hernia, using the Modified Bassini darn or tension-free Lictenstein mesh technique, have been well described. The aim of this study was to assess the role of laparoscopy in the management of these hernias. ⋯ The transabdominal preperitoneal laparoscopic approach is safe and feasible in the diagnosis and treatment of Sportsman's hernia, enabling a full return to sports activities.

Review Case ReportsLaparoscopic drainage of postappendectomy- retained fecalith and intra-abdominal abscess in the pediatric population.
Retained fecalith after an appendectomy is an uncommon complication frequently associated with intra-abdominal abscess. Treatment options include percutaneous, open, or laparoscopic drainage of the abscess and retrieval of the fecalith, as antibiotics and drainage alone are usually insufficient. ⋯ The principles of laparoscopic treatment include the careful identification of all anatomic landmarks, as the abscesses are frequently adherent to intra-abdominal structures compromising the safety of the operation. In this paper, we present 2 cases of laparoscopic drainage of an intra-abdominal abscess with retrieval of a fecalith in pediatric patients 1 and 6 weeks after an initial appendectomy and a review the literature.

Case ReportsLaparoscopic ligation of the thoracic duct for the treatment of traumatic chylothorax.
Laparoscopic ligation of the thoracic duct was successfully used in the treatment of traumatic chylothorax where video-assisted thoracoscopy and conservative methods had failed. This minimally invasive approach contributed to the early discharge of our patient.
