Multicenter Study Comparative StudyAnti-tuberculosis treatment outcomes in HIV-infected adults exposed to isoniazid preventive therapy in Botswana.
Eight public health clinics in Gaborone and Francistown, Botswana. ⋯ With prompt initiation of anti-tuberculosis treatment and access to ART, excellent outcomes were achieved in a public health setting in HIV-infected adults who developed TB disease.

ReviewCompassionate use of and expanded access to new drugs for drug-resistant tuberculosis.
Several new classes of anti-tuberculosis agents are likely to become available in the coming decade. Ensuring prompt access to these drugs for patients without other treatment options is an important medical and public health issue. ⋯ A series of five steps is outlined that will need to be taken by national health bodies, international agencies and non-governmental organizations to prevent undue delays in access to new tuberculosis drugs for patients who could benefit from them. Following these steps can ensure that patients will be able to benefit from access to these drugs, while minimizing the risk of emergence of resistance to the drug.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative StudySafety of long-term isoniazid preventive therapy in children with HIV: a comparison of two dosing schedules.
Two paediatric hospitals in Cape Town, South Africa. ⋯ This study suggests that long-term IPT has a low toxicity risk in HIV-infected children. In the absence of chronic viral hepatitis, IPT can be safely re-introduced following recovery from liver injury.
