Sickle Cell Disease Patients' Health-Related Quality of Life in the Southern Region of Saudi Arabia.
Research that focuses on the health-related quality of life of patients with sickle cell disease remains challenging in Saudi Arabia. ⋯ Patients with sickle cell disease exhibited a poor health-related quality of life. Interventions such as a comprehensive center for sickle cell disease should consider improvements in health-related quality of life important outcomes.

Postprandial triglyceridemia is modulated by insulin resistance but not by grade of obesity in abdominal and morbid obese subjects.
Obesity is associated with high cardiovascular risk. Postprandial lipidaemia has been associated with cardiovascular disease risk. Our aim was to identify whether anthropometric parameters, insulin resistance (IR) and/or fasting plasma triglycerides may determine postprandial changes in lipoprotein concentrations in abdominal and morbid obese subjects. ⋯ In subjects with AO and MO, postprandial triglycerides values are higher than healthy individuals and independently predicted by fasting IR parameters. Furthermore, unsaturated fat improved IR state.

Repurposing of some anti-infective drugs for COVID-19 treatment: A surveillance study supported by an in silico investigation.
The repurposing of nitazoxanide, doxycycline and azithromycin may be effective to improve the symptoms in mild and moderate COVID-19 subjects. This study aimed to detect and explain the efficacy of reusing of these drugs in treating COVID-19. ⋯ The clinical and computational studies applied on three FDA-approved antimicrobials together with their recent clinical findings revealed that both nitazoxanide and doxycycline have great therapeutic potential against COVID-19. The future in vitro mechanistic investigation may confirm our primary computational outcomes, and in turn, these classes of compounds provide a promising starting point for further anti-COVID-19 therapeutics.

The management of sexual dysfunction resulting from radiotherapy and androgen deprivation therapy to treat prostate cancer: A comparison of uro-oncology practice according to disease stage.
To establish current uro-oncology practice in the management of sexual dysfunction (SD) following radiotherapy (RT) and/or androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) to treat prostate cancer. To identify differences in approach to the management of SD according to disease stage. ⋯ This study shows that men with advanced prostate cancer need better support in managing SD. Patients receiving long-term ADT are less likely to be offered any kind of help or intervention. Specific guidance on managing SD in this cohort may result in improvements in sexual function, emotional well-being, quality of life, mental health and confidence.

JAK2V617F, CALR, and MPL515L/KMutations and Plateletcrit in Essential Thrombocythemia: ASingle Centre's Experience.
JAK2V617F (JAK2), calreticulin (CALR) and MPL515L/K (MPL) mutations are important in essential thrombocythemia (ET) and may be associated with various clinical consequences of the disease. This study aimed to compare the clinical and haematological parameters of ET patients regarding the mentioned mutations and the role of plateletcrit (PCT). ⋯ We determined that the platelet count and blood LDH level was high in the ET patient group with CALR mutation. Besides, we found that the blood haemoglobin level was higher in the ET patient group with JAK2 mutation. Additionally, the PCT level was higher in the CALR group when compared to the other patient groups.
