Bronchoscopic management as an alternative treatment in non-operable benign tracheal stenosis.
Endoluminal therapy either by dilatation, scar tissue resection or stent insertion is an established treatment for non-malignant airway stenosis although the surgical approach is still considered the "gold standard." No clear consensus exists on the structured role of each modality. ⋯ We conclude that after accurate classification and a structured algorithmic approach, interventional bronchoscopic management may play a crucial role in the effective treatment of benign tracheal stenosis.

Sex Differences in Long-Term Cardiovascular Outcomes Among Patients With Acute Myocardial Infarction: A Population-Based Retrospective Cohort Study.
Whether a sex difference exists in long-term cardiovascular (CV) outcomes after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is worth exploration. This study is sought to investigate the relationships among sex, age, and the long-term prognosis after AMI. ⋯ Women with AMI had poorer short-term and long-term outcomes. The sex differences in long-term all-cause and CV death disappear after multivariate analysis. Nonetheless, female AMI patients independently predicted higher risk of stroke and heart failure from hospitalization until a 3-year follow-up. To better understand the pathophysiology of female patients with AMI and develop more effective management, more studies in this field are necessary in the future.

Which factors can influence the number of forced expiratory maneuvers on spirometry in schoolchildren?
Spirometry is of great value for understanding respiratory function and management of lung diseases. Adaptations in the exam were made to meet paediatric population since the forced expiratory manoeuvres (FEM) present in the exam require effort and cooperation; therefore, its use should be reconsidered. ⋯ Age and school performance influenced the number of FEM required for a successful spirometry in schoolchildren.
