Depression, loneliness, and factors influencing in Syrian refugee children.
About 3.5 million Syrian refugees are living within the borders of Turkey. This study examined depression, loneliness and factors influencing refugee children who live outside the camps and attend school in Turkey. ⋯ Depression and loneliness scores were relatively high in children, particularly those exposed to the devastating impacts of war. These results will make significant contributions to the planning of services to be provided for this group of children.

Study Of The Gut Microbiome In Egyptian Patients With Autoimmune Thyroid Diseases.
Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT) and Graves' disease (GD) are the most prevalent forms of autoimmune thyroid disorders (ATD). A pathogenic link with gut microbial dysbiosis has been described in different autoimmune disorders but not yet fully elucidated in patients with ATD. ⋯ Egyptian patients with ATD show dysbiosis of the gut microbiome that can be related to the pathogenesis of ATD. This hopefully points to the potential therapeutic benefits of manipulating the composition of the gut microbiome in the management or even protection from ATD.

Safety Analysis regarding Acute Kidney Injuries for Chloride-Restrictive Intravenous Fluid Administration against that of Chloride-Liberal for Patients Admitted in the Medical Intensive Care Unit: A Non-Randomized Retrospective (ChraChl-MIC) Study.
Acute kidney injuries are common in the medical intensive care unit. Generally, intravenous normal saline is administered in critically ill patients but it is associated with acute kidney injury. Current knowledge of chloride and its effect on the physiological functions of the kidney is limited. The objectives of the study were to compare the safety of chloride-restrictive intravenous fluid administration against that of chloride-liberal regarding acute kidney injuries. ⋯ The chloride-restrictive intravenous fluid administration has reduced the chances of acute kidney injuries in the intensive medical care unit.

Observational StudySocioeconomic status is not associated with delivery of care in people with diabetes but does modify HbA1c levels: an observational cohort study (ELZHA-cohort 1).
Structured primary diabetes care within a collectively supported setting is associated with better monitoring of biomedical and lifestyle-related target indicators amongst people with type 2 diabetes and with better HbA1c levels. Whether socioeconomic status affects the delivery of care in terms of monitoring and its association with HbA1c levels within this approach, is unclear. This study aims to understand whether, within a structured care approach, (1) socioeconomic categories differ concerning diabetes monitoring as recommended; (2) socioeconomic status modifies the association between monitoring as recommended and HbA1c. ⋯ Within a structured diabetes care setting, socioeconomic status is not associated with recommended monitoring. Socioeconomic differences in the association between recommended monitoring and HbA1c levels advocate further exploration of practice and patient-related factors contributing to appropriate monitoring and for care adjustment to population needs.

Sexual counselling in patients with heart failure: perceptions and current practice by healthcare providers in Flanders.
Although heart failure (HF) patients often consider sexual activity as an essential aspect of their quality of life (QoL) and are usually uncertain if it is safe to perform sexual activity, this topic is overall poorly addressed in clinical practice. ⋯ Although healthcare providers perceive it as their responsibility to discuss patients' sexual concerns, these issues are not often addressed in daily practice. Increasing knowledge in healthcare providers and specific practical training in providing information on sexual activity in HF patients are recommended. Further studies are needed to investigate how sexual counselling can be provided in agreement with HF patients' expectations and needs.
