Efficacy of the delta neutrophil index in predicting 30-day mortality in COVID-19 patients requiring intensive care.
Coronavirus-19 is a rapidly progressing disease that can result in mortality. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of the delta neutrophil index in predicting mortality in intensive care patients diagnosed with Coronavirus-19. ⋯ We consider that the delta neutrophil index can be used as an effective prognostic parameter to show intensive care mortality in patients with Coronavirus-19.

The association of lymphocyte phenotypes and outcomes after discontinuing eltrombopag in immune thrombocytopenia.
Eltrombopag is a highly effective treatment for immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). Cases of durable remission after the discontinuation of eltrombopag in adult ITP have recently been reported; however, the frequency and mechanisms responsible for this phenomenon remain unknown. In the present study, we examined the phenotypes of lymphocytes in ITP to clarify whether they predict outcomes after the discontinuation of eltrombopag. ⋯ The present results indicate that the absolute number of B (≥0.20 × 109 /L) and NK (≥0.30 × 109 /L) cells at the discontinuation of eltrombopag contributes to the prediction of outcomes.

No Impact of Soluble Epoxide Hydrolase rs4149243, rs2234914 and rs751142 Genetic Variants on the Development of Type II Diabetes and its Hypertensive Complication among Jordanian Patients.
Human soluble epoxide hydrolase plays a major role in cardiovascular homoeostasis. Genetic variants in the EPHX2 gene among different ethnic groups are associated with cardiovascular complications, such as hypertension. However, no reports regarding the association of EPHX2 genotype with hypertension among type II diabetic (T2D) patients of Middle Eastern Jordanian origin exist. ⋯ It can be concluded from this study that EPHX2 rs4149243, rs2234914 and rs751142 genetic variants do not play a role in the development of T2D and hypertension among Jordanian T2D patients. Further genetic studies with larger sample sizes are needed to find out the association of other functional EPHX2 variants with cardiovascular diseases among T2D patients in Jordan.

Perceived Maternal Parenting Self-Efficacy as a Predictor Maternal Responsiveness in Infants and Toddlers.
Maternal responsiveness seems to be necessary for a child to develop a safe attachment. However, even after many years of research on maternal responsiveness, only a few attempts have been made to find ways of promoting mother and child interaction. This study aimed at determining the association between maternal responsiveness and parenting self-efficacy variables and at identifying the factors that correlated with maternal responsiveness. ⋯ This study found that the sociodemographic factors considered in this study had an insignificant correlation on perceived self-reported maternal responsiveness. On the other hand, it did find that PMP S-E had a significant correlation on maternal responsiveness. Healthcare professionals need to recognise these variables in their endeavours to meet the needs of mothers and their newborns.

This study was conducted to determine the frequency of incontinence in elderly people living in nursing homes and the effect of incontinence on the quality of life and sleep quality. ⋯ It was determined that almost all of the elderly people included in the present study had sleep problems and 20.0% had incontinence. It was found that sleep quality is not affected by incontinence in the elderly, but the quality of life decreases because of incontinence.
